First pics with 12mm Heliar
First pics with 12mm Heliar
Well I finally managed to get the first roll developed and printed. After some hesitation because they don't offer a CD burning service, I went with my local supermarket. BIG mistake! I opted for the 7*5 service which meant that I was getting quite a lot of cropping, my fault of course, and this combined with it being my first use of the system meant that some pictures were not quite as I imagined them. This combined with a lot of dust on the pictures and variable quality results from the fact that I had tried the lens out in almost all lighting conditions meant my initial reaction was some disappointment. However, now the dust has settled, and I've had a closer look at the pictures I'm impressed with the way they have a 3D feel to them I've never seen before. The images are crisp and DOF endless, and where all has worked together the net results are unmatchable with any other lens. I've included a sample to show what I mean of a picture taken in a motorcycle shop where there was almost no room, and everything crowded together. The Heliar has taken this dingy space and isolated a subject and made it appear - just well different if you know what I mean. Please don't judge on picture quality though, as I own the worlds worst scanner 🙁 but hopefully it will at least give an idea of what this lens does 🙄
