Hi,
now that the weather is finally getting down to freezing temperatures here in Uzbekistan and I've started to wear a coat, I realized that the M5 is the perfect under-the-jacket camera. With the vertical strap lugs it fits nicely over my left shoulder, and one can walk around with a coat and the camera under the left arm without any risk of the camera getting noticed, wet, or accidentally pointed at the sun. It's perfect for having the camera available and ready to shoot at all times.
Moral:
Now all I need is a better strap instead of the yellow narrow Nikon thing I've been using 🙂

Moral:
- There's a point to using small lenses. My kit currently consists of a CV 40/1.4 and 21/4, both perfect for this situation. Anything bigger would spoil the thing for me.
- I'm a left-eyed shooter. It's the first time anything about any Leica camera is actually an advantage for me, because I can use a shorter strap. Thank you, Leica.
- For the same reason, strap lugs on the left are much more useful than strap lugs on the right, because when gripping the camera with my right hand to take it out, my finger already falls on the shutter release. Took me a while to realize this, but thank you, Leica.
- People in the 1970s who were wailing about the vertical strug placement apparently were already largely carrying their cameras in front of their bellies.
- It's amazing how one can take months using a camera without realizing a key point about one of its features. Now that I've realized this, I think I will put an extra strap lug on some of my cameras.
Now all I need is a better strap instead of the yellow narrow Nikon thing I've been using 🙂
