Ok, stupid question.

I don't know if "grommet" is the right word, but that little rubber ring around the viewfinder eyepiece on my R2A is coming off. It's barely hanging on. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen? Is it supposed to come off? How can I get it to stay on?

Thanks,
Paul

Hallo,

That grommet will come off through wear and tear. I'm on my second one and it's hanging on by not much.

I've decided to forget getting another one as they're £10 each here in the UK (you have to buy the whole eyepiece).

Thanks for the reply, Kully.

I don't wear glasses, so I'm not sure it's important enough to replace if I have to pay that much for it.

Has anyone tried to glue it back on?

Geez Paul you have had yours less than I have and had more problems with it than I have.
You must be using yours a lot more!
Good On You!
I hope you can get this fixed.

I think it rubs my camera case when I take it in or out. That's probably what's causing it.
It's really not that big of a deal, since I don't wear glasses, but if there's an easy fix, I'd like to find out about it.

There's supposed to be a little rubbery thing there? Hmmm...

Who sells these for the R4M?

Yep. My R2A came with it already installed. I would expect the R4M to have the same grommet. You could probably get one from Stephen at Camera Quest, but I haven't checked.

If you do a search on the forum you should find previous threads with solutions to this very problem. I'm telling you to do that because I can't remember the exact camera model, but I believed they mentioned buying the replacement eyepiece from the Nikon FM10.

I have had the same problem with the rubber "thingy" on my R2a and a bit of crazy glue fixed the problem until a second tear appeared. I'll try the glue fix again, and after that I'll just live without the eyepice rubber.

My R2A has the rubber thing Paul is talking about too. I don't know about the other models, but I would assume they have one as well. I am talking the R4 and R3 anyway.

I don't use a camera case. I have a bag though.
So my R2A shares a home with three Holgas!

Are you sure those Holgas can take the abuse? :D

Thanks for the info, Froyd. I'll search and see what I can find, but I suspect I'll end up with crazy glue.

I bought my R2A second hand, and the rubber eyepiece was missing. So I'm trying to find a replacement one (as I do wear glasses)...

Absolutely!
There are three of them and only one R2A!
And besides my cameras live in peace and hrmony!
:D :p ;)
