This is what our son will soon be flying...he just moved to Cherry Point, NC.
It's a great plane and he's excited to fly this one...Harrier pilots will be the first to transition to the F-35 once they get them straightened out and enough built...

This is a Piedmont Airlines DC-3 in the NC Transportation Museum hanger awaiting funding for restoration. these photos were taking in 2009. I need to go back & see if it has been completed.

My Dad spent WWII and later w/ Braniff Airlines (Dallas based) in a DC-3. I recall riding one once from Dallas to San Antonio when a kid.

To GB Hill - did you ever go back and check on the restoration project? Where can you fly in one now or at least see one starting up and taking off? Anyone know?

10+ years ago this Boeing 247 in United Airlines livery landed at our airport here in Nevada. Was able to get a few shots including this one. Wonder if Biomed has seen this one. It was headed to his area.

The aircraft is owned by the Museum of Flight and is usually stored at Paine Field. It is not quite as pristine as it once was.

1929 St Louis Cardinal

1929 St Louis Cardinal

This morning I got to sit behind and start a Kinner engine on a rare 1929 St Louis Cardinal. This aircraft, one of 21 built, was built in St Louis during the "Lindburgh Rush."

I felt very privileged when they let me taxi it to its hangar. Another week or two to finish the annual and one of my friends is going around the patch in it.
