Vivian Maier Shooting in Obscurity - negs discovered

Great story and amazing pictures - thanks for the links. Check out the box of (the remaining) undeveloped rolls on the Flickr page!

As said, too bad she wasn't recognized before her death. What a wonderful body of work - she was very talented, and must have been very inspired.

Thanks Pes for the links, truly amazing! What's really sad is even she never saw the end results of her own work with all those undeveloped rolls of film.

She really had a good eye - some of her photos are captivating. I'm glad you posted the link - this is one story I'll be following.

I think that's a problem with a lot of photographers, the accumulation of undeveoped film. Maybe it's a result of age? In addition to the 40 or so rolls sitting undeveloped around here there are probably twice that many hanging in thedarkroom or tucked in sleeves awaiting their trip under the contact print glass. Still, there are 3 or 4 cameras lying about with half exposed rolls in them...

Wow these photos are great, a true talent. A testament to an artist's career being one of posthumous credit and celebration, sad, so sad. But a lot of talent.

...She wasn't afraid of her subjects, nor were they afraid of her. For the most part they were well aware that she was there.

Think about it next time you agonize over which camera(s) to take, which lenses, how are you ever going to get up the nerve to photograph strangers, OMG! what if they see you?..

From personal experience there's a real difference in attitude towards ladies. As a guy I wouldn't.

I have almost fifty here! I'm tempted to just run it all through Diafine and be done with it. I can aways "fix it when I wet print it"...LOL

I don't have any undeveloped rolls, I always develop them within a day of shooting, but I take forever to get around to scanning the negs. I have about 130 rolls of developed negatives waiting to scan.

Interesting selfportrait

pity though you did sell part of the negs on Ebay. I think it would have been of more value to keep the negs complete.

Beautiful blog btw!
