This thread was inactive for a long time. Good, to see it reactivated. Thank you dourbalistar.
Although I don't own it anymore, the Nokton 35 is still one interesting lens. I'm regularly pondering, if I should get another copy to have a cheap but good enough fast 35.

For it's price, I don't know any good alternative, yet.

Yeah, I was surprised how long it had been inactive. Unfortunately, I seldom use the Nokton anymore.

About to go on another cruise; for me as a tourist, the VC35/1.4MC is better on Ektar 100 than the 35/2 v3 Summicron.

Strange but true, if it were a Leica lens so many criticisms would not collect it, while with a German brand revived after it was bought by a Japanese company, then it is unattractive and not evocative of a golden as in the case of Leica, which collects merits regardless. That said, the first very cinematic photo looks like a shot of a movie by Alfred Hitchcock. In the third photo we can appreciate the natural spontaneity of the subject, portrayed in a moment of relaxation. The second, in good pose and excellent exposure, portrays a beautiful woman, and has a background that highlights the special qualities of out of focus that this Nokton possesses.
Well done, stunning pictures in the midst of so many senseless.

My first lens for the Leica. I have a bunch now, but this is my only fast 35. My daytime 35 is a Summaron 2.8 or Cron v3, but this carries the weight at night. 2500$+ for used old summilux vs $400 for the Nokton used? I would bet almost nobody could look at 10-20 photos of the same subjects from both and know which one was used. That to me, demonstrates that the used Lux isn’t gonna give you $2100 more performance. I could happily still use this lens for all but architecture or serious landscape work. However, I think it was designed for street and low light work where distortion and corners don’t even matter so much.

So the ring flare on this lens when shooting wide open, does it only happen to lemons? I haven't looked through the entire thread but I'm not seeing the problem....

I ask because my copy I owned a few years ago flared like crazy wide open, it all went away by stopping half a stop though.

I have gotten that a few times, but it’s never made me jump and spend thousands of dollars on a summilux. Agree that it is annoying when it happens though.
