Voigtlander VAG, anyone who use one?

My experience was that after I had thoroughly flushed it, in fact, taking it apart to do so as it didn't seem to work otherwise, made it too dry. I then had to experiment with the proper amount of lubricant to make it work properly. Then after all that, the shutter lever return srping broke. Wonderful. Not.

I need to look at the lens again to see what might cause it to stay open. It sounds like the cam for time might have slipped, or the cam spring come loose. It should be an easy fix. I have another lens that does that also, but it is another shutter type, Compur or Seikosha, I don't recall now which. I haven't tried to go into it yet, but it is on my things to do list.

I am not a big fixer/upper either. I do it out of curiosity and a strong desire to save money. I had a lot of worries about going into the Ibsor, but found it surprisingly easy to do. I have not messed with the escapement though, so I hope that doesn't require some help in the future.

Looks nice, I guess you can't be too wrong giving it a try, if you get lost you can easily ask for a repairman to solve your mess ;-)

These are my Avus, different models and variations:

Voigtländer Avus by j.noir

The leftmost one is the horizontal version of the 9x12 model, not many of those around. I even have some double holders for it,

The horizontal version is a very rare item!
I once missed a 10x15 horizontal and still could cry about it!
Got today 10 Ilford XP2 for my Avus so the weekend is solved!
The first one is still going strong so I will give a walk out throu my city and try to capture some old postcards like the one above ;-)
An hour ago I got a mail from a wellknown German repair guy - he told me that it cost something around 120,-€ to do the Ibsor - so I will wait for your pics and see if I´m able to do it by my own - otherwise the shutter will be send to Germany.

Nice looking stable you have there. But ...

Wow!! 120 euros?

I will try to speed up my gettting the photos and some tips to you. I would guess that is about $150 or so. I need to set up a business.

Also, check your PM.

Wow. I really love those photos. Especially the Schloss Fernsteinsee. Really nice. I've been playing more with 35mm and MF lately. I need to get back to the 9x12. I also need to get some color film. So far I have only tried b/w, which is nice.

I really like the 9x12 for the almost 4x5 negative, but how much lighter it is to carry.

Tried to open the Ibsor today - removed all front screws and the clockwork - nothing moves! Opend the 4 backscrews but didn´t take them out! nothing moves. So I don´t want to use to much force on it or destroy it with my "skills" - I give up and keep it @ display for the moment. Maybe I find a working shutter or I will send it for repair later on.
I have an working Avus and so I've got time to wait.

Whew, I sure like the view from your window! Thanks for all the great shots. I have to get some color film.

I will PM you as soon as I can on notes on what I did with my ibsor. Sorry, my work and home life has been interferring with my fun. I did get to grab a couple of shots with my XA on the way to work. The sunlight on the Washington Monument had a beautiful golden glow to it, through the scaffolding of course. I sure would like to get that in a larger format.

She´s back in buisness!
I opend the Ibsor from behind - like it was shown in your pics and brought it back in working position - aplaid a bit of Balistol oil to the moving parts and asembeld it - now it's like new!!!!

Thank´s a lot for your help.

Outstanding! Glad I was able to provide a little bit of help.

Was it lubrication in general, or the B/T arm?

Can't wait to see more of your photos.

It was the Shutter release, which was a bit out of positon - brought it back and then it sounds again like a big old cat ;)

That I wouldn't have suspected, but should have. I have an 8x10 convertable lens with a fineky shutter. It has to be in just the right forward/backward position to engage. just one more project waiting. (sigh)

Another nice photo I see.
