Voigtlander VAG, anyone who use one?

Nice set of cameras. I guess I need to show some photos of some of my 6x9 and 9x12 cameras for whatever interest people might have. Especially those with RF since the is RFF.

One thing I need is more 6x9 cut film backs. I only have one, but fortunately it is a double.
 
Ok - I´ve seen Ipernity isn´t the place for me - I will replace the photos later this day.
Has anybody tried to use this type of cam for collodion wet-plates?
I got 6 dry-plate cassettes and would like to try it out later this year.
Got a 9x12 Rada 120 film back so now I´m on the search for a 9x12 Avus with wheel Compur shutter and 4,5 13,5cm Skopar - if someone want to sell one ;-)

BW400CN, nice colours with that Skopar and Reala.

I have a 9x12 and 6,5x9 Bergheil and three Avus 9x12, if I remember correctly, and a 6,5x9.

This is my 6,5x9 Avus but with a Goerz Dagor 6,8/130. The original Skopar has scratches and the shutter not working.

A test portrait taken with Bergheil 6,5x9 with the Heliar fully open, on Efke PL100 developed in Agfa17.

I've got here a 4,5 10,5cm Skopar in an Ibsor shutter - like new if you are interrested ;-)
Went Yesterday out in the botanic gardens again and played a bit with my Avus and an other Iford XP2 so let´s see what we get.
 
JPD, great photos! I especially like the night shot. I seem to notice how important the plane of focus is closeup that way. Was it what you intended? Great shots no matter how one looks at them. The old folders are hard to beat.

Thanks! With the camera on a tripod I decided to stop down the lens to f:9 to increase the depth of field. A 135mm lens is a bit long on a 6,5x9 camera, but it will still give you enough DOF stopped down. Not bad for a 97 year old lens like the 6,3 Dogmar. :)

Talking about "Dog-", our finnish spitz loves to sit at those rocks with a silly smile, waiting for mice to play with. If none shows up, she walks to the compost heap and sits there for a while instead.

Bought a Voigtländer Avus 9x12 with Avus Anastigmat 6,8 13,5cm in Compur shutter yesterday - got a 120 filmback for 9x12 cams sitting here for a while and plan to adapt a packfilm back for collodion wet-plate word and maybe built a polaroid back for it to use Fuji FP packfilm - so let´s see what the future brings

Nice one! The Lens Collector's Vademecum suggests that the Avus lens may be a reverse Tessar design, with the doublet in front (which makes sense if it was designen before the Zeiss patent expired). Can you confirm this?

Nice score BW400CN! Looking forward to seeing the photos from that when you get it. Hope the shutter works well. Actually, those Ibsors seem to hold up well and as you know, aren't too hard to service if they need it.

It will be interesting to see how it goes with wet plate as well. I have never tried that. Are you just looking for the experience or looking for alternate processing as well?

Yep, a 135mm on 6x9 is a little long, but should be fun to use. Have you adjusted the distance scale or do you use only the ground glass?
 
It hasn´t got an Ibsor ;-) it´s a wheel compur and should work nicely - only the long times should be sticky which will be done with a clean and lube ( Ihope ;-) )

I´ve been interessed in wet-plate because I like the possibility to create something unique and love to learn new things. so let´s see what the future brings. I would have loved to join a workshop in vienna in september but unfortuneatly I have to work - ao let´s see when I have the time to join a workshop close to me Munich/Vienna.
 
The Compurs are nice shutters, and usually quite accurate from my experience and reading of others.

Looking forward to when you get the chance experiment. It would be interesting to hear you experiences with that.
 

NEX+Avus par Michael Relguag, bei ipernity

went a bit mad today and placed my Sony NEX-5 without a lens in the back of my 6,5x9 Avus - equiped with the WW Focar 30 on the rear lens.
Maybe I should build an adapter plate out of a sheet of metal and a M42 to Sony E adapter to set it real straight to the Avus - to have it tilt/ shift would be great - but I don´t know how to realise it.

This was done with F4,5 on the Skopar 4,5 10,5cm
 
BW400CN - that's a nice photo. As to method, how about a photo of the GG? That should be doable. I'm not sure I understand you mention of an adapter from M42 to Sony. Where were you thinking of mounting it to the 6x9? I remember in a conversation with Chippy some time ago, him mentioning there were a couple or three 9x12 that had swing and tilt as well as rise/fall and shift (which many 6x9 and 9x12 have). I don't recall him mentioning any 6x9 with that feature. I suspect a good machinist could do it, but it might be more money than it is worth. Perhaps more than for a 4x5 that already does that.

I just talk about a metalplate with a hole ind it and a M42 thread - conecting it with an M42 to Sony E-Mount adapter - this would be the easiest way to get a digital back - if it would be possible to do this moveable maybe with something like a ball it would be great.

The eagle has landed.
The cam arrived to day and is in a real good shape - shutter is working smothly after a minor clean + lube. Bellows are light tight.
Together with the cam 2 planfilm / glasplate holder and a packfilm holder arrived. The packfilm holder is still filled with a film with 5 remining shots.

The Avus Agnastigmat 6,8 13,5cm has four elements with two group - front and rear element are just 2 lens cemented together. So it is build like the Skopar or in other words it´s a Tessar type.
 
Found two glass plate negative in the plate holder - maybe the formal owner used them for sheet film.

Something new from my "little" 6x9 Avus from the botanic gardens in Innsbruck / Tyrol / Austria.
 
Nice photos. :) Save the glass plates. They have the same thickness as the ground glass, so you can use the glass to grind your own.

If the front and rear elements are two cemented doublets they are more like the Aplanat and not a Tessar type. But 6,8 is a too large opening for an aplanat. It it has a cemented doublet in front it could be a reverse Tessar, but then it should have a singlet as the rear element, and a singlet double-concave element in the middle, so four elements in three groups.
