I got me a new iMac a while ago (2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, OS X version 10.8.3). I also have a Plustek 7600i that I used with my old iMac.

I just downloaded the latest version of VueScan, but when I connect the scanner to the iMac I get this message: "VueScan found a Plustek 7600i, but no Plustek software for this scanner was found on your system. Try downloading a driver for this scanner from www.plustek.com."

But I can't find a suitable driver on Plustek's website. What am I supposed to do? I'm sure there are lots of people out there with the same combination of iMac/Plustek/VueScan, so I must be missing something. My computer skills aren't exactly outstanding ...

If I recall correctly, installing the version of Silverfast that comes with your scanner will install the drivers for OS X. A note: install the latest version from the plustek website after registering – I think there was a driver fix a while ago that improves the quality of the scans.

You have to install silverfast software (it contains the necessary drivers). Had similar problem a few weeks ago and it sorted it out ;)

Wow, thanks a lot! I would never have guessed that Silverfast was the missing link.

Now I just need to to get an external DVD drive for the iMac ...

So, now I've installed the Silverfast software and VueScan seems to be working. But - I only get a white image when I scan. Completely white, with no information at all.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

I'm new to Plustek (8100) and Silverfast and it was up and running Ok until I installed an update for one or the other and got the same message. Upshot was I had to re-install the scanner - that's where the driver is not in the Silverfast suite. In my case, anyway. Probably same with Vuescan.
