W/NW Cats

Blindness is not a part of the manifestations of this genetic disorder.
The lack of the reflecting layer impairs dark vision, and the nearly colorless pupil renders them sensible to harsh light.
Genes are seldom strictly on-off but affect the organism in a complicated spectrum of ways. You get statistical probabilities but never 100% certainty.
My error; I meant to say deafness (my post has been corrected). And certainly you are correct about the genetics.

It seems that you and I have identical Lopi wood stoves, if not identical cats, though it seems that your Mona is just as fond of your stove as our Nancy is of ours. Just a few days ago, we shut the stove down for the season; Nancy still sits staring at the door and shooting us angry looks when we don't re-start it on chilly mornings. Humans are so difficult to train!

This is Nancy, in a good mood:

And posted elsewhere today: Here's the close up of her eye on an adjacent photo:

When the woodstove is going, this dear girl somehow relaxes her fur so that she becomes a puff-ball and her coat lets the heat in. She's a fan of that wood heat, that's for sure.
