Katy is my eldest daughter's rescue cat. When we got her from the cat shelter she was diabetic with cataracts and in very poor condition. Now 6mths later her diabetes is in remission and her coat is looking much better - and she's much more lively and personable.

Nice. Is that a Blue Point Siamese?

All of these cat photos are wonderful.

Technically she is a Tonkinese. But they are always produced by mating a Siamese cat with a Burmese cat in each generation - otherwise they revert to type if you breed a "Tonk" with a "Tonk". So they are different to most "breeds" in this respect and perhasps should not be considered a cat breed at all. In short, I would say she is half blue point Siamese though I am no expert in that breed (though I do like and admire them) . Truth is that I suspect that Siamese, Burmese and Tonkinese are all first cousins and so closely related there is little to tell between them anyway except that the Siamese "points" are a bit more pronounced than the Tonks and the Burmese tend not to have them at all. They are all similar in personality and intelligence too.

The Tonk breed is reputed to have the virtues of both its parent's breed and few of their sins. Though I can say that like her Siamese half she is a talker! Which generally I do not mind except when she becomes insistent and nags me relentlessly till she gets what she wants. (Though even this is endearing in a weird way). It seems that I have become her major care giver in this family and while she tolerates my wife, especially if I am not around at the moment, she makes it clear that while I think she is my cat, she prefers to think I am her slave.

Anyone else get the impression, that when they see a photo of a cat yawning, they MUST be singing "O Sole Miiieeeooooowww..."?
