The funeral for JoAnn Rudolph-Wiley in South Apopka, Florida. JoAnn had a large extended family locally plus many friends, so the turnout was huge. The funeral home sold "doves" to be released as the sign of freedom. Actually, these were pigeons who flew back to their roost to be ready for resale the next weekend.

The storm surge from Hurricane Katrina scattered the tombstones at the seaside municipal cemetery of Biloxi Mississippi in 2005. Six months later, one of the first new tombstones to appear was that of Private Justin Meaut who fought with the "Dixie Rifles" of the Mississippi Infantry in the Civil war. The Confederate battle flag was striking as it was one of the very few items of color in an otherwise grey dismal setting.

However, a year later Private Meaut's marker had disappeared from the Meaut family plot which had been rearranged. There is no evidence of the marker being relocated or record of Private Meaut's grave in this cemetery.
