W/NW: Government shut down

I'll be there on the 12th, hoping to see some gov't sights. I hpe they finish up their little pout by then.

Sign of the times...

Yesterday I went to the "Hiram M. Chittenden Locks" (aka The Ballard Locks) and got as far as this locked gate. At least the locks are functioning but the facility is closed to visitors.

Thank you congress.

I would like to hijack this thread with a couple of questions: Government shutdown; why, and what is it?

Haven't had a chance to look it up yet ;)

Questions like that are likely to get the thread shut down. I'll post a link from the BBCs kids section as it is probably the simplest, most concise, least bias explanation around. ;)

Beyond that, its probably best for this thread to focus on imagery about the impact, etc as this is obviously a polarizing political topic for those in the US.

Okay - I decided this would be a good project for the day.
I walked from the San Francisco Ferry Building to Fort Point.
Do I get the prize for the most closed parks in one day ?

Those Fort Point photos are poignant for me; I grew up in the Bay Area and went there many times. I haven't been in 15 years but that road leading there is still so familiar.
