This is rapidly becoming my favorite picture thread.
There are some very interesting images here.
IMO the title is a complete misnomer.

Bought an old black Pentax Spotmatic with 50/1.4 lens. This is a shot from my test roll, on Plus-X.

Oh, dear! A misnomer? Well, nothing I can do about that now. I believe I might have equally well titled it "Travel photos of dubious value" as another way of describing my original vision for the thread. But it's the contributors who have taken it in the direction they saw fit. I think it is a valid direction, with the title merely a starting point, and then freedom to let it go where it will.

Hmmm, it's proof that the grass is always greener the other side of the fence etc.
As I see it, what's boring and/or normal to me is exotic and exciting to outsiders.
An example or two; I live in the middle of nowhere and see stone cottages with thatched roofs every day and wouldn't like to live in one because of all the stories I hear about them but friends from town think them romantic etc, etc. OTOH, in town they see foxes everyday and regard them as pests but I, living in the country, have seen about 4 or 5 in 40 or 50 years and am very pleased when I do see one.
Secondly, we are seeing a non-touristy side of other countries and that's so different from the usual holiday snaps we see.
Regards, David
PS And I had an aunt who lived in Venice, you should hear her opinion of it at times...

Agree, it's a fun thread. The thread name *can* be changed if you like. Just let me know your preference and it will be done. I was thinking "Banal Photos"...Oh, dear! A misnomer?
