Last week someone saw me using my Nettar so today she gave me a roll of PanX that's been in her film fridge since prior to June 1979. The filters & holder I found in a box of old camera gear my father had. I'm so glad other people save this stuff.

Nice camera, but having a roll of film in your fridge for 27 years is a long time. I hope there is no food from 79'.

I don't know why anyone would save film for so long a time Matt. She's a pretty well respected photographer around here, anyway I'm looking forward to trying it. Who knows I developed a roll of film in D76 that was over 60 years old. I was amazed that it came out. Jim

Well I shouldn't talk, I guess. I have a box of 20 year old expired vericolor II 4x5 in my fridge. I like it for experimental stuff. I guess certain film get better with age, like a fine wine or cheese.

Saw this thread and thought why not. Don't ask me where they all came from, they just sort of accumulated over the years. The old Ansco is a huge beast compared to the 6X9 Zeiss beside it. There must be something about folders that just keeps you coming back for more.

I did not realize how many till I hauled them out to photograph. They were all fairly cheap and two were inherited from my father in law. The Ansco was just too neat to pass on. The case for it had written in it a person's name from my area and 52nd Battalion which dates it at WWI. It also has a second back to take 3 1/2 X 5 1/2 inch ( I think that is the size) plate/neg film holders. The one 6X6 caught my eye as it has a sliver plate with inscription on the back. The insciption is dated 1939 and was given to one of the papermakers at the mill I now work at. It still works. Sometimes things are interesting in more than one way as an added bonus. The one that is really nice as a user is the Super Ikonta 6X4.5 being RF coupled and very compacted. I guess they have more charm than I care to admit.

Nice cameras! They each have character and charm. I have six folders "sitting" beside me, so I will soon post a photo of each.

I know everyone may well have their own opinion on this - but what folder is most commonly referred to as having the sharpest lens?

Sharpness has more to do with stability of the folder camera than the lens in most cases. Many folders are out of whack.

The last one is my favorite folder. It is the Franka Solida IIIe with the Rangefinder and a Schneider Kreuznach 80mm/2.9 lens.
