W/NW: Trains and Train Stations

Chicago el (the city subway and elevated train system): I'm guessing it's the Orange Line to Midway Airport.

Good guess, but its the Pink Line where it crosses Ogden Avenue just east of the United Center. Behind me is where it bridges over I-290 and through Rush Hospital.

I've shot here at night a few times. With the digital, I can crank up the ISO as high as I dare and get a reasonable shot of the train posed on the curve. They slow up considerably due to the curve! Otherwise they're much too fast to shoot except at stations. Its fun.

Ferrocarriles de Cuba hauling freight from Cueto, Holguin to Santiago de Cuba. The diesel-electric locomotive is Russian circa 1966. The crew and I are familiar with each other from them stopping in Cueto to buy food for the crew car where they cook, eat, and sleep. They could not believe that anyone actually wanted to ride along in the locomotive for 2 hours until the next stop, but figured "what the hell?" When we arrived in Alto Cedro, I had them stop in front of a house that I knew sold beer, so I could buy everyone a cold one.

Detail, Norfolk and Western Class J No. 611 locomotive at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina, USA.

Rolleiflex E, Planar 80/2.8, Ilford Pan F+ 50, 1/60 @ f/5.6. Rodinal 1+50 for 11 minutes. Epson V700 scan. I am digging the results I get from this combination. Tones from Pan F are very nearly as good as I used to get with the late, lamented Efke 25, and the Pan F is far easier to work with.
