RR service car leaving the Cueto train station in Cuba. The Cuban name for these translates to English as "little sparkler" from the sparks they make. The work crew had no hesitancy in offering a ride to the lady and her son who live down the tracks. This photo is part of an in-process series about Cuban transportation, all of which is communal and shared with anyone in need.
Cuban people outside the tourist areas love to be photographed. I raised my camera as this group was whizzing by and they all look down the lens and smile.
Tragically, the axle on this unit broke while traveling at max speed on the day after I made this photo. There were three workers on board, two of which were killed and the third seriously injured.
The bullet train made its debut in Hokkaido on 26th March 2016. So far there are just two stations in southern Hokkaido, but eventually the track will reach all the way to Sapporo. This is at Shin-Hakodate Hokuto Station, which is the end of the line for now. The Series H5 (H for Hokkaido) bullet trains look amazing in the flesh.
