Check ebay seller maisonbiz. Good Hoya MC filters.
Or B+W filters at B+H or 2filter.com. More expensive though.

Why not get a step up ring? Cheap and then you're in the field of easily available 49mm filters. Is this for a LTM Canon?

I have an original 'slim' Canon 48mm filter with the coating coming off the glass, is this the sort of thing you wanted?

Wow,
thanks all for the answers
Roland I followed your tip and just got me two Hoya filters.
Yeah, DOA was for dead or alive. I didn't know "Dead on arrival"...
Kully, I have a 48-49 adapter, but I don't like it so much and think it will be a problem with the hood.
Thanks again to all!

at henrys clearance outlet store in toronto they have a stack for cheap. I bought a skylight 48mm tiffen filter for $1.99. I dont know if you can order them online or not but if you live in or know someone in toronto then check it out. www.henrys.com may have a number you could call. hope it works.
Photorama shows are a great place for them.
