Nikon is finally doing what they should have done from the beginning.

Sony is doing what they could have done from the beginning.

So it's kind of a Couldah-Shouldah 😀

The last time I got excited by a rumour involving Nikon was in 1959.

That rumour spawned a camera that shook the photographic world to its foundations and I'm still using five of the fruits of that rumour to this day with the same enjoyment as I did back then.

By comparison, I think this DF thingy will come and go with scarce a tremor....

These things come in threes. I am awaiting Fuji's response before not buying either. 😉

This is only the beginning of the Full Frame rumors, since it's pretty clear the standards and the game has changed.

Compact, high quality FFs many can afford have evolved from rumor to fact. As consumers we can ignore any fact we choose, however people in the camera business do so at considerable risk.

I'd guess there will be more cheap FFs, but some have their mirrorless ducks lined up better than others, one example being one company who has developed practical ways to manual focus very accurately and very fast, without a rangefinder.

... a game changer 😱 ..... I can hardly wait, do hope they've read the bit about them being under $1000, that is a must

I think that the Sony a7 is a lot more exciting than the DF. The DF is really just a DSLR is a film SLR body. I'm sure it'll be great and people will buy it, but it seems like too much of a niche product. It's a homage to legendary cameras of the past, but I don't think it'll really grow into anything more than that in the future.

The A7, on the other had, is all new. It is also just the tip of the iceberg for mirrorless FF cameras. I wasn't only excited about the A7, but also what will come out from the other players in the market because of it.

Well, rumour has it that the one rumour has materialised, while it is rumoured that the other rumour will remain a rumour for the coming days. At least, that was a reputable source told me ;-)

Oh, they will deliver on sub-1k Full Frames soon enough. It's just that they will be used nikons and canons, haha.

You can look back...and produce a DF. Or you can take the latest tech and do your very best with it and produce the A7s. We will see which is more popular 2014.

ah but I forgot, popular is bad, damn.

It's the mystique!

Even there I'd say Sony has Nikon by the balls at the moment. An A7 with Canon 85/1.5 LTM attached has more mystique than the DF does with any F mount lens ever made.

The sony is actually like 1000 times more exiting. It's mirroless and is the future. While the nikon is just a retro style DSLR... Pretty disapointing IMHO, Nikon could have made a mirroless FF camera and it's would have been awesome.

Who says they won't?

I heard a rumor my leaves were all raked.....I think I'll investigate. 🙂
ahhh well, you see that can only ever be a rumor.

the leaves can never "all" be raked.

shows how rumors are so often disappointing. 😀

quantum semantics, 😉
