We got back from Italy!

The toy store Baby Land (in Siena) was like heaven to Dana and Lina. They got toys almost every day. It kept them happy throughout the trip.

It started to rain, and then we had almost every day some rain at some time. We got umbrellas, and the problem was solved.

It seemed like each street corner had a treasure hidden somewhere.

Raid: Welcome back home!
I am off to Florence next Monday, June 10th, with my boy Luca. I'll report back when we return at the end of the month. The plan is to visit relatives in the small hill towns of Tuscany, few days at the beach, a couple of days in Rome and just before coming back home to MN, be at my nephew’s wedding.
Giorgio
PS You have a beautiful family, my friend!

Wow! What a wonderful thread! All these beautiful photos of these beautiful places, and faces! Thanks for posting, Raid and Robert and Highway 61! I would love to see Italy!

Please post your own photos of Tuscany if you have some.

Hello Giorgio,

Thanks. My girls turned out fine even with my genes! :)
I wish you a wonderful trip to Italy.
Post your images here after your return.

How and where from did you take the second image?

The ground was reflecting bright light, which threw off the metering a lot. I tried to adjust the exposure quickly, but sometimes, I missed shots because of it.

The manager of this Gelateria was kind to us, and he gave us 50% off the cost. It turned out that he spoke my native language! We chatted .....

The second restaurant on the left side of this alley was GUIDO. It is a slightly pricey restaurant, but the steak was great.

Nice photos Raid. My own trip to Italy is only a few months away (October), with Rome, Florence and Venice serving as our hubs. I'd appreciate any insights (PM me), w/re to photography, driving, destinations and anything else that might come to mind.

W/re to gear:

- ZI with ZM 25/2.8, ZM 50/2.0 and CV 90/3.5, using Neopan/Tri-X/HP5
- NEX6 with 10-18mm
- IR-converted NEX3 with 16-50mm

Thanks and welcome back.

reading and looking at these kind of threads make me always feel a bit guilty towards my country... I dream of long journeys all over the world and I still haven't visited many wonderfull corners of Italy...
