In my bag that I carried all day was my Contax G1 with Zeiss 45mm f2 Planar. It was loaded with Fuji Superia 400. On my desk that I'm sitting at right now is a Leica M6 and Nikon SP Original.

comments like this drive me crazy...so bloody demeaning to others. (like those of us who use digital)
oh joe, I was just kidding, I'm not demeaning to anyone, and I don't care if a good picture is taken on film or digital just like the next guy. but don't you agree that Helen's style, the surface/texture of her photos is a very film-ish one (without any rating)?

Film Friendly
For this weekend Only....
My M5 loaded with Fuji 200 and the 50mm C-Sonnar, Then back to the G1 with the 50mm C-Sonnar.
I just have to use that C-Sonnar on a film camera.
@helen
Yikes..... a bit of bad timing having 2 cams out.

oh, i know you're a good guy...it's what seem like off handed comments about film/digital that get to me.
as to helen...i would love to see what she could do with a drf.

kids Canon A550, or Fuji F50 in case the cats do something interesting and I don't have time to go grab the RF.

no no, I'm not too much into the serious film vs digital debating thing (I find many more reasons for myself not to shoot SLRs than not to shoot digital)
whatever helen decides to do, it'll be her thing and that will be more than good enough for me to look at it, just as it was before. I think I might miss the analogue textures and the curves in the broad dark parts of her pictures, there will be other things to get excited about instead.

... likes film again.
At work since 30 minutes and since I have used the 35/1.8 exclusively recently, today I brought the Nikkor-S-C 5cm 1:1.4. Camera is the black SP and also the usual L-208 and two rolls of film, Tri-X and RolleiRetro 400S.

I can Dig where Simon is coming from... he's always been a Gent
I feel I can 'Exploit' more with Film...
though at Present I can't get No Satisfaction...with anything
just have some Lenses and no Bodies....:bang:
the X1 appealed to me because of it Size, tres Sexy Body. Large Files, and NO lens changing ( save that for Film)
what worries me about the M8/8.2 is coding, banding etc
It always annoyed me, every time You want the card YOU have to undo the bloody bottom Plate...such a useless design
Lost without Shooting...

At home. Within reach is a Nikon F6 with Nikkor 24mm f2 AIS mounted. Not loaded at the moment but a few rolls of Kodachrome in the fridge to shoot before Dwaynes' December deadline.

I remember your run-up to F6. Is it everything you hoped it would be?

I just stumbled across a Retina IIIc (little c) for $10 today. It looks to be in decent shape over all.
I was going to throw some HP5 into the Ricoh 500 but I think I'll give the Retina a shot instead. Both seem to have better rangefinders than most of my other compact cameras.

And what photography gear you have with you right at this moment?
A Leica X1. It replaced my GF1 + 20mm f/1.7 as my EDC. The X1 is much lighter and sufficiently more compact to make a difference, outweighing the mediocre autofocus. On weekends, I carry the M9 + 50mm f/1.4, and sometimes also a 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit ASPH and a 90mm Apo-Summicron ASPH. The last 2 weekends, however, I switched the M9 for my XPan II in order to finish up my last 2 rolls of Kodachrome.
No camera, no masterpiece. Gotta carry one everyday, everywhere you go!![]()
I agree, that's why my DSLR mostly collects dust.
Edit: If you are at home, what's the camera within your reach for quick action?
Usually the M9.

Just for fun, a simple set of questions.
Where are you? What are you doing? (optional)

M2 + 35/2 loaded with arista's "trix", a combo I carry everywhere and which I love for shooting around my local streets just to document 'life' !!! When I can afford another lens or two, I'd like to get a 50 and a 90.....

Hi Helen
Hi Helen
There was some company that made an alternative M8 bottom where you could pop the SD card out without taking the bottom off, have you checked these out?
Once you get a good M8 that's either fixed or new enough to not have the issues, they seem to be as solid as anything.
The secret is to take tons and tons of photos, like hundreds or thousands a month or so, otherwise dust gets in the system and fouls things up ...

I'm playing with my FED 2 that has developed a bit of a shutter hiccup on the 1/250 of a second speed after I had loaded it with a 40 exposure roll of film (yay absent minded bulk loading). all the other shutter speeds work fine but the 1/250 will randomly stick but then, will go forward after the shutter release is no longer depressed.
