A wool Brady trout bag (Ariel large) today from my wife. Slightly belated because I don't like to ask for things. The bag, being built for fish & game folks (I'm not one myself), doesn't have any insert, but, to my surprise and delight, the insert from my Hadley Pro fits just right. Now I need to get another insert. Perfect for two M's and spare lens or two. A little less capacity than the Hadley (no rear pocket) but just right.
Then, speaking with my dad today, he asked if I still shoot film. Yes, of course. Well, then, I'll send you a couple of Nikons that I don't use. I think I've got an FM and an FE and some lenses. Maybe a couple of telephotos. Do you want them? Duh. Then, I asked if he's managed to get dig through a lifetime collection of boxes in the basement among which I hope he has a stash of negatives from 1950s to 60s from his youth and early adulthood in Chicago. Yeah, they're in there somewhere, but they're under all kinds of junk. What would you do with them? .... to be continued.

My eldest daughter bought me some Adox Silvermax with the developer which was a lovely present...only AG Photographic messed up and I still haven't received it - despite reassurance it's been sent. It was ordered 6 weeks ago !!:bang:
Still I'm sure it will come eventually and in the meantime I have had my head in another project in MF
On a successful note , I did buy my youngest Lomo using daughter a Yashicamat and a stock of Formapan 400 which she is over the moon with. She has been shooting with it already and is clearly having fun which is a great present for me too.
A very good friend of mine gave a wonderful present of his fathers old Rolleiflex.
Its a 1943 Tessar 3.5 Automat which his father bought new while serving as a pilot in the RNAS during the war- presumably a captured camera ? Its sadly in poor condition but may be useable with a bit of work:- the shutter sticks intermittently and the frame counter doesn't reset.. oh and the automat part doesn't recognise the start of the film roll so the the film counter doesn't always kick in at the right point. The camera was used pretty hard by the original owner who went on to become a motorcycle trials rider for among others BSA
When I get a chance I think it would be worth having a specialist look at it

New and old. The green bag on the left was my Christmas gift from my wife.
Leica (what became the M-Classic) bag ... $19.00, including coffee stains, eBay.
Billingham Hadley Pro ... 12 years old now; looking a little deflated as its insert is being borrowed by another bag here.
Crumpler ... what is this? a Three Million or a Two Million ... about $25 on eBay used. This bag travels with me nearly every time I alight on my bicycle.
A leather bag labeled Land Rover that my wife picked up at a consignment shop for $10. A little too dainty for me. This one fills space in the closet.
My newest bag: a Brady Ariel Large. Not the usual though. These are made to carry trout. No kidding. Brady sells a rubberized liner. This bag doesn't have the liner and it won't be carrying trout anytime soon. This one is in wool. It is currently borrowing my Hadley insert while I debate what to use as a permanent insert. Unlike Tom A, I can't imagine using a towel as an insert without also imagining myself sweeping up broken glass from a dropped lens. I like that this bag is not one I'm likely to pass anyone else carrying and it sure doesn't look like a camera bag. The Hadley Pro insert is a tad too small. I'm thinking that a Hadley large will fit just right. I intend to use this bag until it becomes threadbare.
There's a Tenba bag somewhere in the basement feeling a little left out. Too damned bad.

Shooter of Film...
My wife and I decided to just get presents for the kids...our son will be 23 in April and our daughter will turn 21 on Sunday, January 6th...
So by design I got nothing on Christmas but on New Years Day a friend gave me her dad's Canon A-1 camera...he didn't need it and she said she knew someone who would use it...
It's beautiful (as most cameras are) and I've already bought a new battery and loaded it with some APX 100...
