Crave M9 though happy with E-PL1

Crave M9 though happy with E-PL1

I'm having a great time making work with my Olympus E-PL1 though I crave an M9. It's the purest of the pure, is it not?

Used a Hexar RF 35mm F2 for many years professionally and it was brilliant. I hope one day Sony will make a digital version having enveloped Konica Cameras some years back.

The Olympus is a great street camera. The VF-2 viewfinder is excellent. I lean over it shooting at 90 degrees because the wee catch that snaps it into standard position is dodgy. But 90 degrees works well. I've gotten used to it and it makes one even more unobtrusive.

Many of the shots in my new book,
The Photohumourist - Mixed Messages
were made with the Olympus and the Hexar.

My M9 craving is getting out of control as Christmas approaches. It's a distraction. Such a pity that those of us professionally engaged in photography and photojournalism can least likely afford the thing, seems to me. Grrrr. I feel a micro/crowd funding initiative coming on. Maybe if I sell enough books I might be in with a chance. I can but dream.

The other day I attended a photo swap-meet here in Toronto, and sold some equipment.
I looked around the room after the sale, and realized that there really wasn't anything that I needed or wanted to buy.
The few things I'd like are really only affectations, (black Nikon S3 or SP, S-36 motordrive, the odd faster version of a lens I already own) and the liklihood that I'll ever own them is vanishingly small because of price, so I don't really worry about them.
No. I'm pretty much set.

The thing I'm really craving is a Kiev 6 (or 60 or 6C). I'm almost at the point of buying one but I don't really want to feed the coffers of Arsenal camera.

okay...I've thought of something I could spend the 10 grand on...
I would build a Darkroom...we live on a half acre lot and there's plenty of room in the backyard to build me a workshop/darkroom...any monies left over would buy me a Beseler 4x5 enlarger...I have a 23C and a Vivitar VI enlarger but would like to someday print from 4x5 negs...

But, alas, no more ISO 1600 film ...

Portra 800 actually pushes pretty cleanly and easily to 1600. Kodak even encourages it.

It's interesting when pulled to 400 too, but the new Portra 400 pretty much makes that unnecessary (unless you find yourself on a desert island with only Porta 800 in your bag....)

I have one, it is not a camera i would crave for (au contraire...) but a lovely russian diva which needs lots of care and attention, and which is surprisingly heavy:cool:.
If you look over at evilbay germany (ebay.de) you'll find some bargains with luck. Yesterday one went for €56,-
Be sure to flock the mirror chamber to cut internal flare. A true diva: she will need new clothes from the start...

I do crave for... a Mamyia 7....

R3M or R4M with proper Nikon diopter for my beknighted right eye, and nice, compact, sharp m-mount 50; minty Nikon FM2.
An enlarger, lens, trays, siphon, etc. ...
