To understand this craving we have to go back to the time when I was working for a newspaper and used three manual focus lenses (35mm f/2, 85mm f/1.8, and 180mm f/2.8) on a chrome Nikon SLR to cover 80% of my assignments. I also carried a 35mm chrome Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SLR with a 50mm f/1.4 manual focus Takumar lens as a backup.
I eventually sold the Pentax and the 50 when I bought a second chrome Nikon body and a 50mm f/1.4 manual focus Nikon lens. Much later, I replaced the manual focus lens with an auto focus 50mm f/1.4 Nikon lens and added a small 35mm Nikon autofocus black body SLR. This new equipment can easily do the job the Pentax was doing. Plus, I even have a 35mm rangefinder that can do the job better than the Pentax or the Nikon.
As you can see, I do not really need a 35mm chrome Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SLR with a 50mm f/1.4 lens, but for some unknown reason, I still crave one.
