What have you just BOUGHT?

Dear Board,

I finally bought the camera a lusted for over 25 years ago. My Grandfather owned a Nikon FTN and when I got into photography I started out with Canon. I bought a used F-1 when I was in college in the late 1970's. I got out of photography for a spell and when I got back into it AF cameras were the rage.

I shopped hard and decided to buy into the Canon EOS system with an EOS Elan. I liked the camera but I secretly lusted for a Nikon. My Grandfather passed away and I got his FTN and used it on occasion when I wasn't using my newfangled Elan.

I fell away from photography again and when I returned we were now firmly in the digital age. So I stuck with Canon, but still I wondered about Nikon?

Over the Black Friday weekend I managed to pick up a nice previously enjoyed F4S with a 24-120 ED VR G series, but that limited me to Program and Shutter priority. I bought a 35-105 AF and a 70-210 AF at decent prices from the great auction site and I have an SB24 coming from Japan to complete the kit.

I always wanted a Nikon and now I have my very own, bought by me nearly 30 years after it hit the market! I've never been much of a trendsetter, most people think I'm a dinosaur, but I'm a proud dinosaur! 😉

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

At a local antique shop I found a later version Paterson two reel tank in great shape and a Grafmatic 45, all 6 septums are straight and the counter works...
Both for only $20...

A second Nikon F2S. The first had to be returned to the eBay seller, after it emerged that their understanding of the phrase of 'fully working,' deviated considerably from the rest of the worlds. :bang:

50 mm 2.5 Color Skopar. Kept looking at the one JayC had listed but really wanted one in silver finish. KEH had one pop up in LN- for a decent price.

Fantastic and very underrated little lens - everyone should have one!

I just received a package from the US with a tiny little marvel from B+W - an E39 Kaesemann CPL, new for half the price - this is for those sunny days next summer when taking that Macro Elmar out for a spin to the lakesides.

I just bought myself a user MP body. It's a little rough around the edges but it's going to get used often and constantly so I didn't want something pristine. May or may not keep the M4-P around at this point 😉
