What have you just BOUGHT?

I was just looking for this lens, but found this one for sale, for a price near to what most were going for, with this camera attached to it. The camera was listed "as is, for parts", and since I only wanted the lens anyway, figured it'd look nice on my shelf next to my other Fs, but it came today and looks like it works ok. I'll have to put a test roll through it to be sure, but not a bad deal.

A Rheinmetall Exa. I know it's just the same as the regular Exa, but it's got a lot more engraving on it! Plus they're not very common and the BIN was irresistible.

About three years ago I tried my hand at a Leica IIIf but much to my dismay it did not function at all and I had to send it back.
Smitten by the "look" i researched and decided to look for a IIIb body. Finally this month I found a nice one and am running
color film through it ( I was completely out of B&W except for 120). I'm taking shots as ofter as I can and will post as soon as
I get something. Hope this one works well. I'm going to get some shots of it with the Summitar 50 and will post soon.

I recently moved to San Francisco with my girlfriend who grew up here and I've been having a blast acquainting myself with the various shops and labs. So far my favorite by a mile is Glass Key Photo. They're the nicest guys and being an analog-only shop, they have a dreamy selection. The lab I've been using for my color dev is Photoworks and they happened to have a very minty, one-owner black Rollei 35 SE with wrist strap and flash for a great price. I've always had my eye on one so I grabbed it. I love accessorizing so the last stuff I have bought are things for the little Rollei.

Heliopan 30.5mm Skylight
Heliopan 30.5mm Rubber Hood
Premium Gear (Rakuten) Rollei Neck Strap
Kurakamera (Rakuten) Alto 10mm Soft Release

I also got an original 'leather' case and lens cap but those are more for completeness' sake than for functionality.

I tried a few soft releases like the tiny 9DaysHK (great on Leica not so much on a Rollei 35 SE), a larger black concave one and the large Abrahamsson and none of them felt quite right. I like the Abrahamsson because you can lay your first joint over the release and it smooths out the Rollei's sort of stiff action but it also sticks up quite a bit and makes me worry about boring shots of the inside of my bag. I was on the Rakuten site and found one called the Alto soft release in matte silver, ø10mm, and convex. It's exactly the same diameter as the release and it doesn't stick up as much. Perfect fit.

My other dilemma was the wrist strap. However elegant and well-made, it isn't quite ideal for all-day shooting especially when you're wrangling coffee and a phone in your hands while you tend to other business. Again, I was on the Rakuten site and saw a very cool adjustable neck strap made in identical Rollei fashion and it's exactly what I was looking for. Now it can ride around my neck or wrapped around my wrist. Highly recommended.

Adobe Lightroom. I have used Google's Picasa in the past. I hope learning Lightroom and its add-in features will improve the quality of my photos.
