Well, I didn't buy them.... When people find out you like "old cameras" its interesting how you suddenly find yourself receiving "gifts".
From different people in the last few weeks: Three Canon AE-1/AE-1 Program bodies (one black), three 50/1.8 lenses, a Canon zoom lens (80-200?), and a couple Quantaray lenses (70-210 zoom and a 28/2.8). Everything works. My experience with Quantaray lenses in the past has been: buy em for next to nothing (or free) and use them in sacrificial situations. I got some great images of trackside motocross racing using Quantaray lenses and a semi-broken Nikon EM. Both of which were deposited in the rubbish bin afterwards (they were essentially destroyed). The low-quality performance of the Quantaray lenses were not a problem for such high-motion action-packed (mud splattered) images. In fact, that was the biggest problem.....mud on the lens is hard to shoot through.
I've never been a Canon person, except for my screwmount RF cameras. Should I be happy about all this FD gear? I may donate one or two kits to the local high school photo teacher. A few years ago, he was still teaching film and welcomed loaner cameras for the students because so many kids today do not have a film camera at home anymore.
