What have you just BOUGHT?

I found a Topcon UNI at the local Salvation Army. $7.00 so I couldn't pass it up. In store testing of the shutter speeds and other functions looked good, and the glass is nice and clear.

Two knocks though. The meter is not working (no biggie, I carry a light meter!) and the filter ring has a dent.

I hear they are not a very desirable camera but it is pretty neat. Running a test roll through it now. If it comes back good then I'll spring for a seal kit.

A Tiffen softnet Black #1 filter. Plan is to try it on the Fuji X100 for a series of shots. Couldn't turn it down for $9.99 , new (allegedly).

I just bought three Yongnuo YN-560 III manual flashes for off-camera lighting. These replace my beat up Nikon SB-80s. The SB-80s have been slowly failing. The Yongnuo YN-560 IIIs are a third to half of the price for used SB-80s from a reputable source (KEH). I also bought a pair of Yongnuo wireless triggers.

The SB-80s are rugged. My flashes get knocked around because I move them around a lot. We'll see how well the Yongnuos hold up. I may be able to sell some of my Pocket Wizards if the Yongnuo units work as well as the reports I've read.

That looks sweet!

I have one too, but it must be a really rare one. It doesn't say Contax on the front, but Kiev instead. Bet I can get a lot of money for it if I decide to sell. :D :D :D

I do envy you that though. I came so close to springing for one at a camera show about a month ago.

Nothing so special for me. A Yashinon aux wide angle set for the Rolleiflex my son-in-law is putting to good use. Another Mamiya Six but with a bum shutter to work on; it will go to my son-in-law as well. He is about to get the RF bug what with having bought the Canonet 17, and now thinks an RF MF would be nice. Three 129 reels. I will get that 129 roll film holder in use now.

I just found 33 rolls of Arista Premium 100 and 14 rolls of 400 at a local thrift store. The expiration dates are 11/2012 for the 100 and 9/2013 for the 400. They were still in the Freestyle bulk wrap packaging and I bought it all for $15. My freezer is now filled with film and ice cream.

What a deal...!

Haven't bought a thing this week - just sold a 77mm UV filter to someone via Craigslist, though. Next thing I buy will be my first Tetenal C-41 kit to develop all the Portra I've been shooting.

If you find one that's vaguely affordable for you, then I recommend trying one with Contax instead of Kiev written on it, oftheherd. I have two Kievs, and this camera has a nicer fit and finish than either of them. The lens seems similar in performance to the Jupiter 8M's that are on the Kievs, but is more accurate to focus (sample below 1937 Sonnar 50, f2.8 at 1/125 on Delta 100). Both my Kievs front-focus by nearly half a meter at the 2.5 meter mark. Only time will tell what the long-term reliability is like, but I am loving using this camera even more the Kievs.

Some day I will sell off some of my gear, mainly things I don't seem to get around to using, or things I bought for another lens or accessory. They I very well may spring for a Contax. I always hear such good things about the old Contax. And I have liked my Kiev. But I want to know if the Contax is as much better and more fun to use as everyone indicates.
