What have you just BOUGHT?

Today I picked up an Oly XA, 2 Argus C3's that makes 3 now but one is going to a buddy. A Zeiss Icon Contina IIa I think and a Praktica FX2.

In the past week...

Voigtlander R2a - from robt on here. Love the camera, easy to focus, build quality is better than some people have you believe.

Voigtlander 40 1.4 Nokton - Early results look great, pin sharp stopped down. Love how it draws too.

Artist & Artisan - From The Classic Camera in London. Nice strap, bit overpriced though. Hate the shop, Leica snobbery was rife.

FS4000us Scanner - comes through the door today. Not the fastest or the best, but at the price and compared to the v500 for 35mm I'm sure I will love it.

Phew... Now to rest my wallet.

New Lens for Plaubel Makiflexes.

New Lens for Plaubel Makiflexes.

Here is my new lens for my Plaubel Makiflexes, which arrived yesterday. I quickly mounted it onto a Peco Jr. slightly-recessed lensboard, so now it is ready to use!

It is a barrel-mounted Schneider Tele-Arton 240mm F5.5, in great condition. Has a honker of a rear cell, (so, like my 150mm F2.8 Xenotar) it will only work for closer-up shooting. The rear cell hits the mirror when focused at infinity............

Very sharp wide-open, lovely to look through, and does have a much bigger image circle than my other 240mm f5.5 Tele-Arton, which is M39 mount, and barely covers 6x6cm. This one easily covers 4x5.

Konica IIIA (replaces the one I broke)

Contax AX (the one where the film-plane moves for auto-focus--very weird)

Just picked up an OM-1 with 28mm f/3.5, 50mm f/1.8 and 135mm f/3.5 (for 50€). Everything is in GREAT condition. Now, that's my third OM-1 body, and I don't even have any of the others. Maybe it's time for an OM-2...

A Nikkor 135mm f3.5 in Leica screw mount with hood, caps and case, all near mint from Igor. Should be here in a few days. I don't use 135 much in rangefinders but I have this lens for my Nikon S and couldn't resist this one for the price. Its serial number suggest it may be an MIOJ lens and no aperature click stops but that's OK. This will give me Nikkors in 35, 50 and 135 for my IIIc kit. Joe

I've been on a buying spree lately, not intentional but it's happened. Leica M8, Leica Model A, Zeiss Contax IIa, Linhof Super Technika III, Rolleicord iic. The only ones over $40 though were the Contax and the M8.

Just received two sheets of leatherette and one sheet of Moroccan grain leather, for restoration projects. I may recover my Linhof Tech V.

Ah, another "convert". The F2 lever on a black Nikon RF is my favourite flavour. And the titanium curtain sure relieves worrying about burning it through.

just came back from 10 days in Japan (Tokyo/Nakano) and, as usual picked up some "essentials". Shintaro and I did one of our complicated trades and I brought back this black Nikon S3. Shintaro had added the Apollo advance lever and conveyed the shutter to titanium. .... I already had three Chrome S3's and only two blac (Millennium and Olympic) and felt the need to even it out. Black for formal occasions - chrome for hot weather (OK, thats my excuse anyway).

That is utterly wonderful.

Hate to say this is not as nearly as tastie as Tom's Nikon S3

Been wanting a camera stand for a few years, even though they are over kill for my use.

Old Technal CS-1 camera stand

VF2 for my EPL1. I'd have loved a VF4 for an EP3, but both are way out of my budget. Meanwhile, the VF2, while ugly as owt, works pretty effectively, and is already making photography easier.

I'm also waiting for a Minox P&S. Cost £10. Worth a punt.

On my way home today I stopped at a local thrift store and found a like new Vivitar (Komine) 28mm 2.8 lens in Canon FD mount for $7.99...with a rear cap and little pouch...I had to buy it...super clean and still has the sticker...

Got the Minox this morning. It's a CD155. A bit bulkier than I was expecting, though I knew it wasn't going to be as petite as my 35PL. Still smaller than equivalents from other manufacturers. It has a 38-155 zoom, which is truly comical at the telephoto end. I can't find out what the aperture range is, but I'd be surprised if it were much wider than f5.6. Never mind, that suits me OK. I've been taking photos with it on the way to work this morning. Feels good to use, and the shutter is so quiet I have to rely on feeling it wind on through my fingertips. Oh, I have checked that the shutter was tripping as I checked & cleaned it before putting a film in. I'll be interested to see the results.

In other news, and an expensive week for my bank account (well, I was paid Wednesday), I bought an original Pen for $Notmuch, and a 17/2.8 lens for my digital Pen. The latter gives me a bit of anxiety, as the ebay listing contains some errors, but the feedback record for the seller looks fine. We'll see soon if it was a bargain or a big mistake.
