What have you just BOUGHT?

in a moment's impulse: Nikkor 18mm f/3.5 AI-S

was very inexpensive, and in beautiful shape. tried it on the A7 for a few snappies last evening and it performed well.

A Nikor steel reel for 127 film. Now I can blow the dust off my Primo Jr (my Paterson reels suffered an unfortunate frustration-driven stomping accident after deveolping a taste for Rollei retro 80s).

Yesterday's thrift store finds:
-Novoflex 40cm 1:5.6 w/pistol grip focusing and hood, M42 mount
-Nikon FE w/nos strap. Put a battery in it, works great! Gonna do light seals this week.
-Sears/Ricoh TLS w/28mm 1:2,8 Auto Lentar lens. Also came with no-name grip. At $35, this was (by far) the most expensive item of the lot.

Well gentleman, here's something a tad different :D Yesterday I was browsing local second hand ads. A gentleman listed a nice Fujicolor lighted store window display sign. He asked for bids. Not being a signage junkie per se, I straight up asked him what he wanted for it, and I paid him 45 euros for it.

It's in excellent shape, almost in store fresh condition. Very few small scratches, can't really find any dents and the lights work. They do buss like a beehive though, so I'm planning to just fit some remote controlled battery operated LED-pucks. I can fit those without destroying the current fluorescents. It's about 50 centimeter wide, 40 tall, 15 deep and weighs about ten Pro Packs of Fuji 120 I guess :D

Words can't express how delighted I am to have this. I love the Fuji green and their whole 80's logo, typeface and colour scheme. I wanted a nice store display for two years now, but never found one for reasonable prices or within reasonable distance. The stars suddenly aligned it seems.

I'm still looking for a nice Fuji flag to hang outside, but we're already halfway to opening our own photography store with this puppy!

Hey nice catch!! Much better than a Heineken or Perrelli sign for the garage wall :D

The light ballasts are very easy to exchange and not expensive either to get rid of buzzing.

Cheers!!

Thanks. I don't have a garage anyway, so it's up on the bedroom/office shelf for now :D

I'm sure it's very easy to replace if you know what you're doing, but since it's all old parts and I barely know my AC from my DC anyway, I'd probably let a professional tinker with it if I wanted fluorescent replacement.

These days you can buy these cool LED pucks / strips that work on battery power and are controlled through a RF remote. Very power efficient compared to the fluorescent and it allows me to turn it off / on from across the room. So I'll probably do that instead. Fun little project to see what might work.
