What have you just BOUGHT?

My just bought Zeiss Ikon Contax S, built in Dresden in 1951.

As the pentaprism markings indicate, that's a Contax D, based closely on the S with some modifications, rather than a Contax S. It is an earlier rather than later example, with the small D on the prism. I have an identical version myself. I've worked on another D recently. They are an interesting mechanism.

Soon to arrive an Olympus XA4, 28mm lens ideal to carry around🙂

Recently had one of these in our shop and was so tempted but I just know I’d never get through the film. I’ve about four cameras loaded at the moment but keep reaching for digicams more often. Shame on me.

After obsessing for a while, I decided on a new scanner — an Epson V550.

It's not really what I wanted, but the price was right and it's good enough for 90% of what I do. I figure anything I need a really good scan of, I can send away.

There's an interesting story behind this 1991 F3 HP.
The gentleman I bought it from this past weekend told me he was
on the R&D team for the original Kodak DCS digital camera
and this was one of the Nikon bodies used during its pre-production development at the Hawkeye II research facility.
Cool story. Too bad it didn't come with the DCS attachment as well. No complaints though, the F3 is in Ex+++ condition. 🙂

A 8X10 paper safe from NY Dan-It had a strange trip getting here. For some moronic reason the Post Office sent it to San Franciso and then back here.

$500 dollars worth of repairs to my v4 35mm summicron that my cat knocked over causing it to fall directly onto the front of the lens. Jammed the focussing of it. Does that count? :bang: :bang: :bang:

mooge,
Congrates on your find. Also, great photo highlighting your subject matter. I like your choice of the circular image, it gives an impression that the photo is as old as your subject.

anu L ogy,
I would consider a $500 repair to bring your v4 35mm summicron
back from the dead a sound investment & qualifies for the "What have you just bought". You might consider a cat restraint too 😀
