What have you just BOUGHT?

The Bessa RF folder arrived today - a thing of engineering beauty. I just wish the vendor had mentioned slow slow shutter speeds, this level of non-disclosure especially from dealers drives me nuts. Lens is immaculate though as is camera.

I've got an Olympus Stylus (µ) on the way from a local Facebook Marketplace seller. It looks to be in good shape, but she couldn't confirm as she didn't have a battery. But I only paid half the going rate on ebay. A gamble, in other words. I'm expecting maybe the flash will be bad; we'll see.

I'm expecting a Nikon FM2N today, that'll be my super-reliable back-up body to my FG. Also: Five 36 exp. rolls of Kodak XX in 35 mm. Everybody seems to just LOVE this film; I wanted to give it a go. ASA 250 does seem like kind of a sweet spot, for my kind of shooting.

Reloadable plastic screw-top 35 mm cartridges later this week, on which I'll load some Fomapan 400. I took a gamble and bought a whole 100' bulk roll, based on how much I like the Fomapan 100.

I should add that I just sold (at the cost of shipping) a non-working Yashica Electro 35 GSN and an Olympus OM-G with a sticking 2nd shutter curtain. Couldn't bear to throw them away, so went to the trouble of shipping them to interested parties. Got a nice Canon FTb and a few lenses on the block.

I had the desire to have it, and yes: Nikonos V orange with 35mm. f/2.5

One thing you'll discover is just how sharp that 35/2.5 lens is - it's very good, one of Nikon's best.

Another thing you'll discover is that the Nikonos will keep the shutter open for many seconds, if necessary, to get a proper exposure. It's measuring light directly off the film.

I think the viewfinder display of shutter speeds is clever, as well.

The holy grail of below the radar open aperture metering M42 cameras, scored off ebay for an extortionate £21, and fully working. Just needs new mirror foam. The Chinon CE Memotron - enables all M42 lenses to be metered open aperture, and actually quite a handsome beast and well built. Tiny bit of brassing but in all other respects, spot on. This enables me to shoot M42 lenses on film as well as mirrorless. Very happy bunny!

Just got the Sigma DP1 Merrill to join the 2 & 3.

I have the DP2 and it's a great camera.

I just exercised the buy it now option for a Hasselblad 500 C/M with Sonnar 180, and I did the same thing for a Planar 80 (Chrome T* coated) to add to it. Now I think I need a 50 down the road and I will be set.

One of the CE & CE-II's abilities that's not well known is that in Auto, the shutter can reach a maximum fast speed of 1/4000!

I have one of these, and with zillions of M42 mount lenses out there, and the auto exposure with any M42 lens is that it makes a good camera for street photography. It's also quieter than normal for a camera from that era.

Thanks - that I did not know! It is even more capable, and really very much an insider's camera.

I have some gorgeous M42 lenses and sometimes it's tough choosing which to take. Ultimately I have a real soft spot for the Flektogon, but the Takumars are so fine, as are the Fujinons, and with limited exceptions still very good value.

That's interesting. I owned a Ricoh Auto TLS EE when they first came out that also enabled M42 lenses to be metered at full aperture. You had to tell the camera the maximum aperture of the lens, and it did the rest. I thought that was the only camera that did that. I need to check out the Chinon.
