Dear wlewisiii,View attachment 4823790
Been wanting one for years because it seems, to me, like a really fun film camera for both MF & AF Nikkors. Advanced in someways, yet the controls are old school.
Found one on Ebay for a low enough price and a good description. Hopefully it will be as good as claimed.
I managed to get one from Robert's Camera 6 or 7 years ago with the MB-21 for about what the MB-21 goes for today. It was about $ 150.00 and today I could get much more for it. I bought based on the review by Ken Rockwell who pretty much stated it's the universal recipient for Nikon MF lenses regardless of the series save for the G-series. Since I already had Nikon MF lenses and a few AF lenses I decided to buy it. It was a wise choice, something I rarely make!
Around the same time, I picked up a Nikon D700 and D300. Over time I added some lenses with VR/IS for those cameras. That is really the only modern convenience unavailable on the Nikon F4/F4S. I solved that problem with a $ 20.00 Goodwill Nikon N80. I lost some of the compatibility I had with the MF Nikon lenses, but getting a fully functional 200-500mm VR lens on a $ 20.00 camera is worth the loss of functionality with the older lenses to me.

I received this from ebay yesterday:

I nearly forgot: the seller has copyright of the photo. You can tell I didn't take it, as it's in focus and properly exposed, lol.
Bought it for my Mamiya M645 1000S. Looks good, works well, but has the merest hint of uneven tension when focusing, but you can really only feel it when whizzing from one end of the range to the other. In normal use you can't tell. Slightly faster, lighter and shorter than the earlier f4 version, and is 5 elements in 5 groups as opposed to the 5 elements in 4 groups of the f4 version. It could be argued that this could be viewed as an "S" version. Dunno why they didn't designate it as that. Maybe they thought the public would think all the other lenses would be redone and re-designated and so would hold back on buying the other lenses in anticipation of the "new" versions?

Bought some HP5+ and Foma400. I used foma400 in the past and I was not impressed. Shot it at 400iso and developed in Rodinal and was... miah..
I will try rating it 320iso and develop it in HC110 and see how it goes.

Cameras. I has it.
What does the white insert do? I have seen them on the self-timers of other Cameras and I am suspicious of them.

The camera has an insert normally in the self timer and preview levers, they fall out. My M5 was missing the insert in the self timer. This just gives two different options for replacements. I printed mine in white as that is what was loaded in the printer. I've read that the originals have the white strip so that you can see the self timer countdown easier from a distance when using it. Don't know if that is accurate or not.

I upgraded my computer for photo editing and work. My MacBook Pro 2017 was beginning to get sluggish with the new AI oriented editing features of some software.
I now have a Mac mini M2 Pro 512HD/16RAM plus a 2TB external SSD and a new monitor (Benq PD3205U 32 inch UHD 4K).
I also got the Photo Mechanic Plus software to finally sort my DAM issues and bought the Nik Efex bundle as the free version no longer works on Ventura.

Just another hotel clerk
Been curious about the new Fuji US made color 200 film (rebadged Kodak Gold apparently from the tech sheets). Target had some available for $9 a roll for sale online so I ordered 5 rolls to experiment with in my new to me F4. Should be amusing. Cheaper than Freestyle has either the original Kodak or the Fuji priced though both are out of stock there.

Since I cannot print my own......what are the details as to where and how to request these inserts from Leica. Or you could sell yours to me?Leica does still have the M5 inserts. $11.39 for two inserts. Part# 042-730-002-085.

Had to have this compact zoom Nikon 75-150/F3.5, Series E after using one for many years and loaning to an acquaintance and never to see again.
This lens became the darling of many Nikon users after a famous photographer (?) gave it a stunning review and it was quite hard to find even though it's pedigree was always questionable, being one of Nikon's pedestrian lenses after the release of the EM. It was noted to be very sharp through it's short tele range and obviously quite compact verses some of Nikons more monstrous zoom lenses from the day. I look forward to
using this little beauty again.......
