What have you just BOUGHT?

I bought the LLL Speed Panchro in black paint. Looks and feels very high quality. I only snapped a few indoors to check rangefinder focus and it’s spot on. Will take it out on a gloomy day to see what it can do.

Nice catch. Until I bought my first Olympus SLR, I didn’t realize so many of the OM lenses were f/2.8 max and finding an f/2 was harder and certainly more expensive. I believe the only lenses faster than f/2 in the system are the 50 lenses, f/1.8 and f/1.4. I was used to Nikon and others where f/1.8 and f/1.4 in a variety of focal lengths was common. Despite the lineup of slower lenses, the Zuiko’s are excellent.
 
Dear Board,

I think I may have a problem. I never thought I'd win this auction but I was wrong. It arrived today and with fresh batteries it was DOA. It only fired at 1/500 and bulb regardless of the settings. Since LR44's only cost pennies, I put another set of new batteries in it. Low and behold it works as advertised.

It certainly is a rugged, heavily built unit. I swear it weighs close to my F2 with 50mm lens and MD-2. I think it was designed to serve as additional ballast for scuba divers judging by its weight. I'm used to an Olympus TG-6 with a floating strap to keep the camera on top of the water. This brick will need its own lifejacket if I drop it out of my kayak accidentally. 😉

Sigma DPQ finders (VF-31, VF-41, VF-51) to use on my DP Merrills and DP2. I shan't use them much but they are there when I need them and they are a joy to look through when I do. Not too long before that I had bought the TTArtisans 21mm and 28mm viewfinders - fine for the price level but in the same ball park.

Also a TTArtisans "brass" hotshoe light meter to replace my old Yashica selenium that seems to have died in storage. Has nice heft and on a quick test seems to correspond to the Sverdlovsk-4 I've always found good enough.

I promised a bit of a review once I'd put the camera through its paces... Unfortunately, I was just starting that when I ended up in the hospital for ten days. And since I've been home (arrived home July 3), I've been recovering and gaining strength. I'm now near the point when I have the energy to go for walks while carrying a camera again, so hopefully soon I'll be able to put the TL70 Plus to use properly.

(I am going to be away on a trip for a week starting on Thursday as well, and debating what camera to carry. I'll probably pick something else as a TLR is by its nature a pretty bulky thing, and this is a quick week away that I want to travel as light/compact as possible for. I might just carry the Perkeo II or Retina IIc ... the Perkeo and two rolls of film or the Retina IIc with one roll of 36 may well be all I need. Of course, I could just stick a roll of film into a Minox B or C... LOL!)

I've fitted and been testing the PD Mini Clutch grips. And I am a little disappointed to say that they don't work all that well for my hands on the Leica M bodies (the strap eyelet is too low on the body and makes working the controls a bit of a pain), they don't fit the Perkeo body (no strap eyelet on the body at all), don't fit the Kodak Retina IIc (tripod mount is at the far end of the body and the grip base interferes with the film winding lever), etc etc. It seems none of my film or digital cameras fits the design model that this grip's design is best suited for. I didn't think my choices of camera were that far out there...

Oh well, I'll send them back. The Peak Design Leash or Cuff fit nearly all of my cameras just fine.

Now, I already had a Vivitar VI and Beseler 23C both with Color heads...so I understand the need for just one more.
The Vivitar VI I bought brand new a few years after high school, the 23C I found at a garage sale and it came with 3 boxes of darkroom equipment all for $50 USD.
