What have you just BOUGHT?

Ah well ... I have got to order some more 35mm film...

I've just secured another Leica M body ... an M6TTL in black with the 0.85x viewfinder. I was originally looking for a body with the 0.58x viewfinder since I tend to be shooting mostly with 28mm and 50mm lenses lately, but then I thought:

"Hmm. I have a perfectly good Leica 28mm clip on viewfinder that gives me a better view of the framing than any of the built in finders do (because of my glasses), why not get the increased magnification finder for better focusing accuracy, easier use with 50/75/90/135 lenses, and just stick the 28mm viewfinder on top when I want to use that?"

I've been shooting enough film again lately that a body with the meter built-in has become an appealing choice, so that's my justification for adding "Yet Another Leica M" to the closet. AND it was just my birthday—no one knows what I want for my birthday better than I do.

LOL! Really, I can stop any time ... :ROFLMAO:
It should be here next Friday.

If you do manage to find a 0.58 VF M6 or MP, I would suggest you buy first and ask questions later (so to speak). My 0.58 MP is really a special experience for both 28mm and 35mm lenses. You could then decide which to keep (or both, as I would suspect 🤓).

Happy birthday! And remember, here at RFF, you never need to justify another Leica... ;)

Unlikely ... the .58x viewfinder MPs are very rare indeed and the M6TTLs are only a little bit more available. I thought about it quite a lot when this one came up, however, and I think the higher magnification is just right for what I have in mind.

As always, we shall see... :)

Dear Board,

I have other hobbies aside from photography. When I saw a used WR Taylor rod for sale I went straight to the source for the skinny. The rod maker is a personal friend of mine who used to be local but relocated to Minnesota. I always wanted to own a rod he made but lacked the horsepower to actually buy one new.

Bill told me it was a rod he built for himself and used as his favorite trout rod for years but then decided to sell it. I bought it 3rd hand from a bamboo rod reseller, but it seems barely used to me.

I grabbed an older Scientific Angler System 2 reel with a spare spool in the appropriate size from Ebay and now I'm good to go!

Look out trout!

Regards,

Tim Murphy

A confession. I just bought two Billingham Bags. Hadley Pro 2020 and Hadley Small Pro. Ordered from Billingham UK.

In my defence, I don’t have either of these particular models and I’m starting a new job tomorrow, so I’m indulging in a gift-to-self.

A Kilfitt ‘KIHAS’ lens adapter to use Kilfitt lenses on my Hasselblad 1000f cameras. I just need to figure out which Kilfitt lenses will work!

Bought some more Fuji gear over the last week or so.

XF 23mm f2, XF 80mm f2.8 macro, XF 16-55mm f2.8.

GFX 50S ii, GF 35-70mm kit zoom, GF 63mm f2.8.

Too much GAS this weekend after getting rid of a few things on ebay this past week, other good deals found me again oops.

An OM2n body that was sold as-is, at an antique shop that has a camera vendor with a ton of items and it was placed in the cheap as-is bin, the battery cover is on tight and a coin wont open it up, but removing the bottom plate and inserting batteries and it works.. The self-timer doesn't work (it seems like someone broke the plastic knob, but its still on), but a good 7/10 shape after cleaning up. I actually bought it b/c of the good condition focusing screen cheaper than what people on ebay charge.

Yashica Mat 124-G, meter doesn't seem to work and need to clean the corrosion but I am going to run some 120 film on it. But everything else looks good and came with the aux lenses...

Canon F1n (I think?, its the mechanical one with 3200 iso), Its working, but it looks like it was someone's work horse, give the dents on the prism. I don't think I am going to keep this one as I don't have any FD lenses and the 50mm 1.8 it came with has its issues with haze. Meter works, but mirror occasionally stays up until I advance the film again. I think its going to need a costly CLA that I don't think I want to commit to. Outside of Canon Rangefinders, I never really cared to own their FD/FL mount SLRs.

"Flush" w/ cash from a very recent watch sale, I purchased today off eBay: a vintage 25mm LTM Canon lens; a vintage (3 gen.) 28mm LTM lens, & a Nikon FN camera body. That will be the last of my lens purchases.

No need to name it ;)

Shutter stuck open, hopefully an easy fix to go with the Hexanon 135/3.5 I bought a couple of weeks ago, there's never been a better time to buy if you don't mind having a go at fixing things, this and the lens was only £20 delivered!

Might seem strange replying to my own post but thought the info might be of use for others, it's here anyway.

I've since found out this is actually a T2 and wondered why some of the scarce articles about fixing the 'T' were different to this one, the base layout was wrong, so today discovered that the T2 didn't change the name on the front panel and was still designated 'T' and the base layout is different.

Just as an add on, I have got the shutter and mirror working but still not a full cycle without error, there's a mangled spring that needs replacing first, but strangely there was alot of oil on the shutter blades when I got it released which seems odd as not much oil inside a camera normally, anyway onward and upwards hopefully. (Oh yeah at least the battery compartment is easy to get out!)
