What have you just BOUGHT?

Another book. This one is without pictures, pictures to either look at or color in, one with just words. Henri Cartrier-Bresson, a Biography by Assouline. I am not much for reading about the famous or revered, not anymore. But I will check out old Hank and see what he was about. In a more serious note, I am sure he would be somewhat appalled by the book. He never seemed to take himself seriously. Perhaps a sign of greatness.

The OM2n just landed, bought as Spares/Repair and I did message the seller to ask what might be wrong with it but never got a reply but he offered it for £40 and the only thing I could see was the self timer was down! So took a chance....

It needs a good clean but the timer just needed setting off, it returned to its normal position, the mirror was up but once I put a new set of batteries in it and reset it, all seems back to normal working condition, the meter works, the lens is pretty clean and the winder works sort of, as I think it also just needs a good clean.

Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.

Sadly the 50mm Nikkor-S is going back as I asked if the glass was clean, apart from the fungus and they said yes but the front element is pitted!!!

And there we have it, a good clean and an hour later. The winder was cleaned as well and is now working as it should!

The base plate is scruffy but can be replaced in the future and just the usual new seals to finish off, as I don't use flash and prefer the look without the Hot Shoe, it will be left off and the Pentax Strap had to go. ;)

Bought nothing really, but I paid the bill for the four cameras I sent off for CLA and they were shipped to me as of Wednesday evening. UPS delivered them this morning ...

The Voigtländer Vito II that I found in a box of "junk" at the local museum (and sat on my bookshelf as an ornament for 10 years or so) has been completely restored, the Voigtländer Vitessa was completely cleaned (and some internal rust removed) and everything serviced and adjusted to spec, my beloved old black Rollei 35S was completely gone through and the meter coupling repaired, and my Kodak Retina IIIc (the one with a badly dented top cover and broken meter) was overhauled, the top cover changed to a IIc top cover, and the meter eliminated (it's essentially a IIc with the f/2 lens now...).

All look to be in good order so it's time to load each up with a roll of film and go testing. :D

Meanwhile, I'm jones'ing for a Plaubel Makina 67 ... sigh. This gear thing really is an addiction. 😱

All money well spent, including what you will spend on the Plaubel. You know it's inevitable!

I just picked up a small leather box marked Nippon Kogaku with some small accessories inside, but I don't know what they are. Can anyone here help me out? I'm not even sure they belong to a camera............

The phone tip jack suggests audio, mono, it is not a stereo jack. You are on the right board when you are picking up geek stuff that you are not sure for what purpose it was designed. You may even get an award for this one. ;o)

I don’t know, it’s hard to beat the weird Werra kit a few weeks back. I think that mystery is still with us 😊

I can add that the two black plastic parts have a flash shoe (cold) embedded, right where the finger is placed on the lower one. The piece with the two translucent windows might belong to an exposure meter. I suspect that these parts may not necessarily belong together.

For what it's worth, I leafed through the Peter Braczko "Complete Nikon System" book today and didn't see anything that looked like this.

Dear Board,

Last week I picked up a minty Tamron Adaptall II 24mm f2.5 in the case with a manual. It came with a Mamiya ZE Adaptall mount. Not having a camera with the ZE mount and realizing the mount alone is probably worth no more $ 10.00 or $ 15.00 I figured I'd look for a Mamiya ZE. I found one on Ebay for not too much money, like a pitcher of beer and dozen wings kind of money, and bought it when the seller offered a discount.

It arrived today, I put new batteries in it, and it works as it should.

Regards,

Tim Murphy

Gone a little crazy this week but hopefully I'll be having a square image weekend by Friday. Ordered a Rolleiflex 2.8D Planar from Jimmy Koh and a Tenax II with 40mm Sonar off of eBay. Tenax looks good but from a non camera person so it's a gamble but it was cheaper than all the sold ones.

That was always my dream camera back when they were new. The 3.5 was OK, but the 2.8 was talking to me. I hope you have a ton of fun with it. And show us some of that fun, too. ;o)
