So in a moment of insanity;
A Yashica FX7 with a ML 50/1.4 & a Tamron 35-70/3.5 CF Macro - an adaptall lens. And the few reviews I can find for it are all quite positive so there is that at least!
Why? Because I got given a DSB 50/1.9 in the Christmas give away but was too slow for the RTS!
LOLOLOL!

More fun for the Texas Leica....

Fun indeed! I have the original OEM brightline finder for this lens, in really nice condition. I bought it to use with my Horseman Convertible, with a 62mm lens, but I found the framing far too narrow, probably more like 70mm. A Voigtlander 25mm finder was perfect, and far more compact. Anyway, long story short, if you'd like the Fuji finder, let me know. It's a freebie!More fun for the Texas Leica....

However, be warned: the Fuji finder is a huge and heavy beast. If you have a nice 28mm finder (like a Voigtlander) it would make a much more svelte package, same 2:3 aspect ratio and angle of coverage. Can we talk about "svelte" in the same breath with the Leica Texana?

This didn't come with the finder so I'd love to take you up on that offer. Sending PM. Thanks!

I just got the Contax RF Sonnar 50 1.5 on the left. I know there are a lot of versions (a lot) of this lens. But, I am curious. If you look at the filter thread - there's just a lot more of it than the one next to it. The coatings look the same. So, I'm assuming it is not some kind of fake. Just don't know why it would have the deep filter thread.

Zeiss-Opton Sonnar 50mm f1.5 T Lens for Contax | eBay
Zeiss-Opton Sonnar 50mm f1.5 T Lens for Contax. The aperture ring is a bit stiff and there's a scratch or some coating loss on the lens, which you can see in images 7 & 8. Probably wouldn't affect shooting. There's also some dust. Untested and sold as-is.

It looks like the original Chrome collar has been replaced by a substitute. Shoot with it, make sure the image is good. There were at least two versions of this lens, different fixtures.

Yeah, that would be the one. Well, I’ll put it through its paces - if the images end up in focus I’ll be content.I saw that one on Ebay, or at least one just like it...

And as if I hadn't spent enough, I ordered a used Pentax K-3 this morning. Funzies 😊
Since the focus helical is on the camera I think the odds are good.Yeah, that would be the one. Well, I’ll put it through its paces - if the images end up in focus I’ll be content.

Thypoch Simera 50mm f/1.4 arriving today. The lens frenzy is over. This one has had great reviews by folks whom I can respect and user experience by knowledgeable users. I am looking forward to putting it through its paces. And I was lucky enough to get it at the old lower price with free shipping.
Another good new lens for about the same price as a good used lens but brand new with warranty. Yes!

The lens is brilliant. There is quite a bit of history as to how the ML series came to be and they are all great.A Yashica FX7 with a ML 50/1.4

Unfortunately my other 50 1.5 coated has some kind of separation and it is extremely out of focus. So, it's a relative measure. Happy to report that this is doing much better than the other coated one. I am grateful that we still have a one hour photo shop nearby. Makes doing testing a lot easier.Since the focus helical is on the camera I think the odds are good.![]()

You would be surprised... I have bought lenses off Ebay with the incorrect lens groups installed just to make the lens look complete.Since the focus helical is on the camera I think the odds are good.![]()

My Son ordered, payed, took delivery, wrapped it in Christmas decor roll and I excitedly opened it on Christmas morning.
A Leica handgrip for my new d lux 8. It just completes it as a very compact camera.

The Simera is in the house. It takes nice pictures. I'd post some but you really do not want to see my very messy kitchen or the very gray Columbia River out my back door. We generally have six months of steady gray followed by six months of intermittent gray. No, you cannot buy sunblocker around here. ;o)

I bought two Olympus XA's in December, both were cheap, and working, though one has some fungus in the rear lens element. It's hard to say no to cheap finds
