What have you just BOUGHT?

I have a couple of those clones and I have never been able to get a smooth cut line with them. I use a very sharp razor knife and still no joy.

I have resorted to just doing this freehand with scissors to much better effect.
ABLON arrived..... works like a charm...w either a construction razor knife or by drawing a line and then cutting with scissors....
Clearly though, i'll need to cut leaders before any flights..... don't think the razor blades will pass security.....

You'd be surprised. I have traveled happily internationally with razor knives - the kind with the snappable blades - and have never been questioned. Similarly, I carry a small pen knife on my keychain and have never been questioned. So long as things like this are in the jumble of a camera bag, I think they just don't get noticed.

......minimally....then i don't have to carry the ABLON either 😉

These days, I find carrying more than 2 cameras gets in the way of taking pix. It used to be <some film camera> + Nikon D750. Then I got a D-Lux Typ 109 and that thing ruined me for the very fine Nikon DLSR. Yeah, it's only 16 Mpix, but boy does it have good ideas about what color should look like and even better ideas about monochrome. Just for fun, I put the Nikon in mono mode to compare (who knew it even had such a setting 🙂 and I still preferred the 'Lux output.

In Italy a few years ago I carried a IIIf and the D750. A year later, I took an M2 and the 'Lux to Greece. WHAT a difference. I was able to shoot far more in the moment without the weight of the DSLR hanging off me. I did have in my bag, and every time I pulled it out to use it, it felt like I was carrying a bowling ball 😉
I have a pair of D750s. I thought that was the solution to the pair of D4 bodies. Then I switched to a pair of Canon R bodies. Better, but they're still more for a "set piece battle." But all through that I've been sneaking around with an X100F and a RX100m7.
An A6100 and 2 lenses are always in the truck plugged into a USB charger. The Canons get used 10% of the time. It's all the Fuji and the small Sony.Once in a while the "big" Sony. More and more often it's just the little Sony and my phone as a light table. Liberating. Incredible and ridiculously wonderful. I'm finally back to "true" miniature format" in small cameras.

A Canon P with 50mm f1.4 lens came in the mail today. I've tried to avoid duty fees, but the Canadian pickin's are slim, so it took a while. A shop at the end of the block had a Canon 7 with a non-working light meter and 1.8 lens, but the P was $50 less (even after Canada Post) and had already been CLA'd. A big brother to the trigger-operated Canonet that I got for free.

Not sure how I relapsed into this GAS, but there it is.20260210_123530.jpg

Does the Canonet's meter work? I didn't know any Canonets came with trigger wind -- very intriguing.

I have just snapped up a long focus lens 600mm f5.6 P pre AI

This is not my photograph but it is of a same lens.
My lens is in a real good overall condition with a very smooth focus action. When attached to a heavy camera like F4s the focus action tightens up and spoils an otherwise enjoyable experience. Ken Rockwell mentions this in his review saying supporting the camera helps with focusing. This must be why Nikon produced a lens support/cradle for this lens as can be seen in the next photo1000021726.jpg
This is a photograph of the focusing unit lens attaches to the front. I am now in search of a lens support/cradle. I am looking forward to using this lens.

The meter doesn't work, which is too bad. On the other hand, the camera works fine on full manual. However, it's not nearly as convenient to make aperture and shutter settings as on the P.

I ran comparison shots with the Canonet against a 50mm Nikkor series E on my F3 and didn't see any significant difference. Now I have to compare it to the other Canon lens. This is especially tough, as I remember when film and chemicals were cheap.

Those are really beautiful...

I keep my gas to once a year, last year I picked up a Lumix s9 w 18-40 and was very impressed with the IBIS. Sooooooooo after much thinking and looking I found a very clean Lumix S1H at a good price and I now am trying to get used to something that big and heavy. It's a real beast in the hand but that IBIS and the colors out of the camera have made me very happy and since I mostly use manual focus lenses older M stuff thank god I can still focus. So I now have a Sigma fp, the S9 and the S1h.

I’ve never come across it in Ricoh 999 guise but I’ve seen a photo of one online. I’m sure they’re much more scarce than the Ansco version.

It wasn’t a camera that was on my radar screen either but I stumbled across Mike Eckman’s nice review of it. Of course it’s no Leica M2 but for a Raymond Loewy-designed camera made by Ricoh, it’s not bad at all. I think the only ‘negative’ about the camera is that it uses these detachable proprietary strap lugs that are generally missing from the camera, so unless you have the ever-ready case you have to figure out some kind of strap arrangement. Maybe another ‘negative’ might be its limited lens selection (two 50s, one 35 and a 100).

Not sure if you know Vince but another source for the strap lugs could be the Ricohmatic 35, it has the same strap lugs I think and I bought a broken one last year that had the strap with it, for my working Ricohmatic 35.

Great camera, I love mine. Make sure you set the EVF to 120hz, it defaults to 60.

No I did not know this - Frank Marshman made a set for me and he was planning on doing another set for me, but this is great to know. Many thanks!

A 25mm 1.4 Leica Summilux for my four thirds Lumix L1.

I have the Leica 14-50 2.8/3.5 zoom and have been looking for the 25 1.4 for a long time. They are hard to come by. Over the past couple of years, I found a few in Japan but they were really expensive. I finally found one today in mint condition in the U.S for a great price and jumped on it. It should be here in a about a week. I am really looking forward to it as the Lumix L1 is one of my favorite cameras I have ever owned.

I bought an all black Zenith-B in excellent condition (both visually as well as mechanically)
Except for the M39 models, a black Zenit B is my favorite Zenit. The E‘s lightmeter is nowadays rather useless and it makes the camera „ugly“ 😗. The B is just perfect: simple mechanics, sturdy and heavy 👍
