What have you just BOUGHT?

A Super Ikonta C to join my A and B.
It was not cheap but somewhat less than eBay price. But it was local and really clean so had to get it. View attachment 4888422
I traveled all through Thailand about 15 years ago with a Balda and shot Velvia and Acros by the rucksack full. Used sunny-16 and ducked for the Velvia and overshot for the Acros. Turned out great. These are fantastic picture-making machines.

The 90mm Mamiya landed earlier, did the 1 sec test and it worked! Err what, it was bought as non working shutter due to not being used....Tried again and it fired....

Ok then before I get too excited, check the Aperture works....Good....Check the DOF function....Good.

Try a few more speeds, OK....Back to the slow speed test....Good....Hang on. not good, it stopped firing everytime.....Why is the flash sync set to M? Moved the Flash Sync to X and it fired and has done since then!!

Intermittent shutter, user error or lucky, time will tell. The Hoya Filter is in good condition, the Hood isn't for this lens but it will fit the 180mm I have and the front lens cap doesn't work [No springy side clips, maybe glue and screw on?]

Bonus for today was the Enlarger I picked up had a nice enough EL Nikkor 50/2.8 in it which I didn't know about.

Just received a big package from Zhongguo (aka the Middle Kingdom) 😀

Still can't believe that the whole thing including shipping costs only US$400.

It is an M-mount 75mm f1.25 lens made made with ED and high index glasses, supposedly with excellent image quality (but I don't really know how to interpret those MTF curves.)

At this price, I don't expect it to be a Leica 75mm Noctilux killer. If it can live up to or even close to its advertised performance, I will be very pleased.

bought Valoi tube/film scan kit easy35. It requires a macro lens. Re-bought Z6 which are cheap now used and competent.
The film scan system works great, and better than my Primefilm scanner. I got tired of waiting 5 min per/scan and this is better all day.

Nikon Z6, 105/2.8 MC macro with new rig. f/8 seems to catch it.
(converting to b&w my older stuff now makes sense with new resolution film scans.)

I bit the big one just now. I have been waiting since the middle of December for that HB 35 - 100 zoom with no luck. An HB group on FB announced that HB had them in stock. They now have one less. I am so broke now, really. A lot of chickpea dishes and black been dishes for a long while. I have to cut way back on everything but I did my obeisance to the GAS God. The lens will be here "in 5 - 8 days." Needless to say I cancelled the B&H order. And I do not think they will continue as my favorite shop.

Am I stoked? You bet! I'll be bragging in debtors prison for sure. OTOH it is a killer combo, as good as I will ever see and gratefully received. It has been a long, hard road from homeless at 21. But what a trip. I have been very, very lucky and had the help of lots of very nice people along the way. Life is good.

Dear Board,

I unfortunately had to order a windshield for my daily driver. I'd be content to drive it until it fell on me, but the prospect of that happening at 70 MPH is unpleasant, and that would be undoubtably when it would occur given my luck.

I'd just like to say that while we all dabble in cameras and many of us dabble in collecting, I wish I had known in 2013 when I had my last cracked windshield replaced that the cost would triple. I might have done some things differently! 😉
