What have you just BOUGHT?

Polaroid OneStep2, inc case and a pack of iType Film, £20! Was a 40 mile round trip but I like a nice drive out.....To be used for the Mamiya RB, got the 3D Printed files off my mate earlier for the adapter, my wife says it seems a shame to take apart as the Polaroid has only been used once but it's a sacrifice for the good of humanity....It takes 600 Film as well.

Hmm. It does seem a shame to rip up a practically new OneStep 2 i-type camera for a project when there are so may old OneStep cameras available for almost nothing. But I'm speaking as a Polaroid Addicted ... 😉

Fujica ST901 with 50/1.4 EBC Fujinon, purchased locally off Craigslist. The camera and the body had obviously been not well stored -- corrosion evident on both, especially the lens. This was a gamble, but I installed a 544 battery and the auto function, including the LED shutter speed readout, worked and seems accurate. The camera is supposed to operate in manual mode with dead or no batteries; those speeds (B-1/1000) were at first completely capping but are slowly coming back. Exercising the shutter seems to be helping.

The lens however is in bad shape -- it seems like the focus helical is stripped or cross-threaded somehow. I can't get at the screws to try and take it apart from the front. The glass is not good either. I do have a Fujinon 55/2.2 that works with it, and other M42 lenses work with stopped-down metering. All in all, worth the $25.

35mm Simplex Camera Puzzle.

I was cruising the stalls of my local antique/junk market last week (Lancashire UK) and spotted an early Leica-style 35mm camera. It is manufactured to a high standard with a leather covered aluminium body and 2 brass winding knobs to the top. There is a pop-up front viewfinder and an adjustable rear sight. The front of the camera body is stamped ‘SIMPLEX’ or possibly ‘SIMPLE X’. There is no serial number.

The underside has two circular steel plates covering the spindle mounts and a central threaded tripod mount.

The lens (unfortunately severely damaged) is an Agfa Solinar 1:3.9 f7.5cm (serial 3282019), so post 1925 if the lens is original to the body. The lens is mounted in a threaded (39mm) aluminium collar mounted in a turned aluminium lens tube.
The whole thing weighs 725g.

The camera is a puzzle to me, I can only find references to the early Multi-exposure Simplex and the Ducati Simplex. Can anyone identify this camera?IMG_2309.jpegIMG_2312.jpegIMG_2314.jpegIMG_2307.jpegIMG_2304.jpegIMG_2303.jpeg

I just got a Viogtlander 35 2.5 in M mount, brand new. Wow, what a nice lens! Within the first few minutes, I’ve appreciated the well placed aperture tab and gocusing tab. This is the perfect lens for a shooter who does not use the viewfinder. I will be using this lens a lot, replacing my Nikon 35 2 AiS and J12. This lens is made for users !!!

Welcome to RFF, TynBen!

Intriguing camera.

The "Simplex" is almost certainly a bespoke craftsman(woman) piece. A smattering of parts and pieces from donor cameras and maybe a bit of home fabrication to create a camera for themselves. Testament to creativity and ingenuity.

Hopefully waiting for two decades for a 23mm f2 to appear for the RD1, I’ve concluded that it will never happen. While confined to my favorite chair because of shoulder surgery (too many heavy camera bags, life-long tennis and motorcycle riding) I noticed that TT Artisans was having a sale on their 21mm f1.5. I ordered one up and will give it a go once the surgeon says I can safely lift a few pounds.

Not exactly bought... a friend gave me a Contax IIA + zeiss jena sonnar 50 f2 belonged to his passed away father.
His dad bought it in '54 in Bogotá (Colombia) while he was working there.
My friend is not at all into photography and he told me he would like to give the camera to someone who would use it.

Well, here I am!

The kit comes with instructions (in spanish), a book about the camera and the business card of the shop where it was bought (I already looked for it, it doesn't exist no more).

A fairly nicely done home workshop/machine shop project, I'd guess.
