Do you remember this post? I went for my usual lunch break walk at the local charity shops and the lady who runs the one I got the Minolta XE-7 from, came to speak to me. She found the lens the camera came with and asked whether I wanted to have a look. Hoping that it would be the 58f/1.2 I got a bit disappointed seeing the Rokkor-X MD 50/1.7 (1977, American version). They were asking £20 for it and I wasn't terribly convinced I needed it but then I thought it would be unfair to separate them after working together for almost 50 years now. So I caved in and paid to have it.Just walked out of a charity shop with this in my hands. I paid £10 as they were told it was not working properly.

Had the mirror up and the self timer engaged. When I pushed the On/Off switch to the On position, the self timer completed the action. The X and B speeds work properly.
I have 10 days to return it if it is not working ok. I need to put batteries when I am back at home to test the rest of the speeds. Viewfinder looks very nice 👍

So my camera is from around 1975 and the lens from the first version of MD Rokkor from 1977. Looks like the camera remained unsold for a few years and was then sold with the MD Rokkor-X, both for the American market.
That's a nice lens cap too...
