What is your favourite camera/lens combination?

Leica I, Elmar 50mm f/3.5, Tmax400.

I have many favorite combos,
Nikon F5 and 24-70
Nikon F3 50 f2 AI
M2 with a 35 v4 Summicron
but if I had to pick just one it would be my
Leicaflex SL with the 60mm macro elmarit.

The modern 50 Elmar is sharp, very straight and gives lovely colours. Very compact. The M9-P is only a bit bigger and heavier than an M2 and in use is much the same.

And it can do black and white....

This has evolved for me over the years.
It used to be my M4 with DR Summicron:

Another from the M4 'Cron combo:

Then with my M8, it was the 15mm Heliar:

Then the M9 with 21mm Super Angulon:

Then I went back to 100% film for a while with a pair of Nikon rangefinders.
The SP with the 5cm f/1.4:

I've gone through a series of digital SLRs for work (two of them were stolen) and the combo I settled on was a D2Hs with 24mm f/2.8 Ai Nikkor:

Unfortunately, that combo was part of the kit which was stolen but things ended up well. Now I have a D3 with a bunch of great lenses but I haven't found my real sweet spot of which lens I love to use with that camera.

Now my real connection is with a Mamiya 6 and 50mm lens but I don't have any of those scanned yet. Soon.

Thanks Joe!
That's one reason I hate carrying umbrellas. I can never wrestle with an umbrella and get a shot like that that. I just choose to deal with the rain. (I really need to get a Nikonos...)

Hi,

Whatever's got film in it because I don't keep them if I don't like them. That's what ebay's for...

The ones I use the most are the Leica CL and Olympus XA & XA2 but that could be because I've had them the longest. The Leica R5 and a 35mm lens was great but I couldn't afford the repair and then I guess the Minolta XD-7 or X-300 for the lens mostly and the Leica mini III for a modern P&S with a nice lens. But I do like all of them, even the digitals.

Regards, David

Lately it's the Ricoh GR, with its wonderful 28. It's been with me many times I would not otherwise have had a camera, such as in a movie theater.
