Voigtlander Bessa R5d Digital Body
Voigtlander Bessa R5d Digital Body
I would love to see Cosina Voigtlander team up with Kodak and produce a digital full frame rangefinder for use with all its great lenses. I am sure many of us would love a less expensive alternative to the M9.
The point being if they could use the Nikon D3/D3x/700 high ISO full frame chip (Kodak) in a redesigned Bessa R body with the choice of Vogtlander's own lenses as well as Leica ... what a possibility.
GAME ON I cannot see how this would not be a great boost to the company and the rangefinder world in general ...

The Bessa III is almost there. Faster lens, more rugged build quality, and a saner price and I'm there.

15 cm VF
15 cm VF
I wish CV would add to the 15 cm VF a 21 or 25 cm frameline.
2 reasons:
1: 15cm f/4.5 and 25cmSnapshot are my favorite lenses for the Bessa L.
Lens change without VF - change would be nice.
2: It would take only one VF, when the 15 cm f/4,5 is used with M8 and Filmbody.
I hope also that Cosina does not completely turn his back to the LTM-system ...

I added a ~28mm mask using electrical tape to my 15mm vf and works quite well, I even use it as a guess frame for 25 and 35. A cheap solution and I don´t have to change vfs...

They already rival everybody with the 50/1.5 and 35/1.2, they also have excellent and tiny wides like the 15, but they are slow. No fast teles neither, so I guess either a 21/2.8 or a 90/2 would be great additions to them.

I've been thinking about it too.
Have you taped the front or back?

Yes, I understand that.
I will try to mask my VF too. Thanks for the hint.

Nothing at 135mm?!
Leica has a ridiculously expensive 135/3.5 - pricey for a little-used foal length. Zeiss has nothing. All of the 1960's Leica, or Canon/Nikon/whoever Sonnar clones are very old and very heavy (approx 500g for a slow tele?!) and can certainly be improved optically using today's materials.
I don't think I'm alone in wishing for a 135mm that is light enough to be thrown in a bag for use in isolating architectural details or compressed landscape shots. Accordingly, the maximum apperture does not have to be very large. In fact, f/4, f/4.5 or f/5 fould be acceptable. APSH should make for a nice optic, just as in the 35/1.2. Could even acheive APO like the 90/3.5 APO. Just make it small and optically magnificent :O)
I would be happy with a 135/4.5 APO weighing about 300-350g and costing approx. 700$US.
If anything extra can be thrown into the design, I would request as close a focus as possible: 1m maximum, but preferably closer if at all possible.... give us the option of a really nice "macro" (actually, just a close-up) lens so that the new 135mm also competes against the Leica 90mm macro TE, but has a longer working distance (better for avoiding background light falloff when using flash at close distances), and better background selection in a cluttered environment.
Shouldn't be hard to do. Would fit into the line nicely. No real competition on the new or used market. Would help to overcome some of the traditional "compromises" of a rangefinder system, thus encouraging new shooters to try CV rangefinder cameras.

I would like to see the Bessa R brought back with a metal back, top and bottom... and the improved viewfinder of the R2x... and keep the classic shape... the R-series are so ugly... in my opinion.
I second the wish for a longer tele... 135-ish... with a minimum focus of .9meter... with the same build and image quality of the 90/3.5... maximum aperture of 4.5 is all the is needed... make a wonderful portrait lens... and please make it LTM and in chrome.
And a lovely, brass barrelled, LTM, chrome 18mm f4 with a matching metal finder would be great addition as well.
In my wildest daydreams... bring back the R with viewfinder options and frame-lines such as the R2X, R3x, R4x... we need to keep the LTM alive...

I would like for them to make those Mini-Finders again. I need one for the 35mm focal length.
And for a camera, how about a Bessa IIIF !

I'd like to see a new compact and quiet Bessa SLR with built-in motor drive for Leica R lenses. Something along the lines of a Contax Aria.

A fast 21mm and a fast 90mm.
Cosina has excellent lens line-up, but i really would love to see a 21mm F1.4 and 90mm F2.0 or faster from cosina.
They have fast 35mm, and 50mm, i think it's now time to fill-in the gap for the wide angle and short tele.

Yes, please.

Seconded.
And with a huge viewfinder. Like a Nikon FE2.

I would like to see the 28mm Color-Skopar updated in M-mount (so I can get a black one)

I'd like to see a faster 21 (2.8 or 2.0), an M mount 50 with a cheaper price than the 1.1, and a 90 2.0.
The idea of an R mount SLR also crossed my mind, but maybe an interchangeable mount SLR? Leica SLRs aren't too expensive

I waited for that update, for one long year, and... Consider getting the real one, as we might not see that dreamy M version...

I would very much like the CV equivalent of the Elmarit M 28mm f2.8.
I already have the very compact VC 50/2.5, 35/2.5 and either side of that I have the 75/2.5 and the 25/4. Shooting interiors or tight streetscapes with the 25 is great for coverage but the f4 is a bit limiting, especially inside old buildings. And I don't want a huge and heavy ultra fast lump of glass. I can live with f2.5 so I'd just like a matching 28 to go with the other compacts I have. $2000 for the Leica glass is a bit rich for me.
Until Mr K comes up with the goods I'll just have to put up with the slow f4/25mm.

A compact AE aperature preferred fixed lens rangefinder sporting a 35mm f1.8 lens. Sure you can buy something similar that is 40 years old, but it would be nice to have a modern version of this that was economical, small, up-to-date and at the right price point. Ideal for street photography.
