Of course, "C" can be compact, But all ZM "C"s are have same spec. with old contax lens...

and I am also waiting for "C-Tessar".....

The ZM line is not exclusively indebted to the old Contax designs. Many are taken from the Contax SLR series. There was an 85/2.8 Sonnar in C/Y mount. I bet that it is coming next...

A 90/2.8 would be just as good :)

I liked Tom's idea of an 180/2.8 in the other thread, maybe with goggles ? Even I might consider to buy a ZI then :)

I would like to see a 85f2.8 with a high performance formula. I rather sacrifice speed for "absolute" optical perfection. I might even accept a 84f4.0, but it would have to be outstanding in its performance - particularly at f4 ( I am talking outstanding compared to any 90/85 made by anyone ever!).

As for "super" fast 50's. Leica will probably have their "Uber Noctilux" at Photokina (f0.9) and good for them and probably a fast medium wide 28f1.4 or 24f1.4 - again good for them, but if current price policy is anything to go by - too much money for what is a limited use lens.

Doubt that Zeiss is going to do anything like a 35f1,4 or faster. Most of the Zeiss glass is made at CV's plants in Nakano and neither CV nor Zeiss would have anything to gain by making competing lenses from the same source!

Now, if they wanted to dazzle, a 21f2.0 with a quality equal to the 21f2.8. Well it is only about 5 weeks until we will all know whats going on.
 
A 45mm 2,8 Tessar as mentioned above--single coated, as the Tessar design, with only 6 glass to air surfaces, naturally tends to be a high contrast lens. The 45 has the look of a 50 with a little more air around the edges, and more forgiving depth of field. It would be compact without having to be collapsible.

I know what I want now. A tri elmar type lens, but maybe just a dual length lens, like say a 25-50 or 35-85 or something like that. Also if it is possible to not have the max aperture be f4, that would be great. I am sure such a lens would be very difficult to make however and quite expensive not to mention large...but one can hope.
 
Been away and have just got back to view the post's. I thought of an F1 35mm - but no. why, well all the ZM lens are bigger than any of the 'sister' cv. For example, VC 35mm
F2.5 ~135g f1.4 200g. ZM 35mm f2.8 200g. With the VC 35MM F1.2 being large and heavy - how big do you think a ZM f1 would be?? HUGH:( No, f1.4 (which came out top in ast poll) would be fine.They may come out with a f2.8 50mm (groan - I an happy enough with the f2 quality wise) - it woud have to be dinky in size and stellar quality.
Or a ZOOM 25-50mm with matching finder:rolleyes:

Any more for a f2 21mm?

Okay, no RF, but as small as a ZI with a ZM-Planar - and the whole set is Germany made...

(the 4-elements 85/2.8 renders nicely -- but of course isn't "high performance" in terms of modern standard)

Looking at the last poll I posted and this one, it looks like the most favoured lenses would be a 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1/f1.2, 28mm f2 and then a 28mm f1.4.

There has been some support for the other aperature end of f2.8 for 50mm and 85mm tessar designs. What is so great about the tessar design compared to more modern designs?

I don't think so... The other super-fast lenses (Hexanon, Canon, Nikon) don't even come close to the performance / character of the Noctilux and I doubt that a re-designed 50/1.0 or faster will have the same unique image-drawing possibilities as the discontinued Noctilux, the special glass necessary for this design is gone.

You are probably right, but than again - look at a wonderful CV 35/1.2! It has it's own look and a superb lens with great performance/character. So, if Cosina was able to make one of these wonders - you just never know.....;)
 
The CV 35/1.2 is a wonderful lens (judging from the photos that I have seen) but also a little bit more expensive compared to the other CV lenses ... ;)
 
The current prices for (used) Noctilux lenses are insane ... But is there a market for a new designed 50/1.0 at all ? Designing such a lens costs some money and relatively small companies like Leica, Zeiss, and Cosina will think twice about their investments ...
 
A 21/35mm f2.8 dual focal length or a tri elmar type of lens with 21/28/40, affordable and not to bulky and heavy would be great.
 
Being an M8 user I would like to see a 24/2 and somehow can code it and make it bring up the right framelines! I wish ZM or CV can bring back those LTM lenses!
