What would you pack when planning for hurricane evacuation?

Having a prepared list well in advance is a good thing, but cameras can be replaced. Thus, they rank very low on my list.

The first photographic item on my list is a memory card or stick with very recent pictures of the inside and outside of my condo to be used if an insurance claim needs to be made. No. 2 is my backup hard drive with my personal documents and the bulk of my digital images along with the scans of old family photos. The later also exist offsite as I've distributed copies to other family members.

Even so, there are many things higher on my list; IDs, cash (power and phone outages prevent credit cards from being usable), insurance papers (both property and medical), cell phones with their chargers, ...

This is a good point. I may walk around our home and take a video in case the storm is announced to get strong again.

Just buy a Liberty safe to store your important stuff in. No hurricane will damage it. Especially Erika. Very unlikely she will be a Katrina.

Might hit us over here. Haven't had a big storm since 10 years ago around these parts.

The camera(s) will be loaded and taken out into the storm (probably the F5, anyway).

Wow, what a lot of havoc! I'm astounded by the way the road broke off cleanly right along the yellow line! It broke off cleaner than a saltine cracker!

I was confronted with similar decisions when we evacuated ahead of Sandy.
My wife and daughter packed suitcases and left in the car for the Red Cross evacuation center.
I packed my most valued portable items into my minivan and drove it there later.
Some of the items I couldn't take I piled up on the bed, and fortunately they survived.
Everything from the floor up to the water line (~2 feet) was later flooded and ruined.
