Ted, the Vivitar 283 and 285 is a low priced, very powerful, controllable flash that has been in production for at least 30 years. Not TTL but still I think the best flash made.

I'm old enough to remember when 265's were made before 283, and the "oh my gosh 327 inches in a small block". Hell, I remember 6 cylinder Corvettes.

I owned a '67 Camero with a 327 and had friends that own Chevys with 283s. I own the V 283 and love it. Back on topic, this weekend on a trip to Dallas, I had the Fujica GS 645 and the Bessa R with a J-8 as my traveling companions. Worked well and I hope to post some pics tonight.
