We're all light!
Have a Manfrotto tripod and monopod. Both purchased when I was still working primarily with fSLRs. These days, the tripod occasionally supports my OM-2n/Sigma 21-35 f/3.5-4 combo, and very rarely supports my Holga 135. The monopod gets equal time with the OM-2 and Hexars. But neither support gets much action overall. Still glad to have them.

Shooter of Film...
Two weeks ago...shooting my daughter at a horse show...although the arena lights were on I wanted to use a slower than normal shutter speed...

Back In Black
My dad gave me his ancient alu tripod from the mid 60s, some obscure Yap brand (he was a sailor, bought it there). It looks quite flimsy, and is in the "ultralight" category, about a meter and a half tall. Nevertheless, I put a Benro ball head on it and it works surprisingly well even with a large DSLR and a 70-200 2.8. I am able to get sharp pictures at quite long shutter speeds (haven't really tested it into the minutes) Interesting that it is much better than a number of modern "light" tripods I've checked out in camera stores. I have a fullsize Velbron too, but it rarely gets out these days. In my quite small backpack I get 3-4 lenses, a DSLR, flash, and a tripod (I tend to carry a bit of gear, I need the exercise..). Not bad! I even use the tripod every now and then..

Newbie
I can't remember. A couple of years ago, maybe. The one thing that stops me from buying a 6x7 MF rig is that I'll have to start using a tripod, and that seems like unnecessary kit to be carrying around.
