Which Summicron 35mm?

Hello! I hear that old version would be more valued than some others. Question is on Summicron 35/2 crome without gogles and its serial number is 1996* from year 1963, 8 element - told by the seller. Is it true and why it is that way? Is there something like 50/2 DR have, "best for B&W"?

I know this little stupid question, but how much would be correct price for one? A low price in that situation what I have when one is buyable to me and seller have not find buyer for a while, asking 750€. Average weared but good lens. M2 chrome.

I suppose prises have dropped much in a year! There is some lens generation change and new alternatives much.

lenses with goggles have the focus mechanism adapted to the goggles. The goggles enlarge the Field of View by factor 1.4, to make 50mm framelines usable for 35. When you remove them, (1) the camera will still show the 50mm framelines, and (2) the focus will be wrong. For example, when (without goggles) you focus the camera at an object at 1m distance, the lens will focus at less than .7m, and the resulting picture will be heavily front-focused.

A lens that was designed to be used with goggles has to be used with them, also on a camera with 35mm framelines.

Summicron 35 v2

I was surprised to see that the switch from series 7 filters occurred in the Cron 35 v3 (http://www.antiquecameras.net/35summicronmlenses.html). Mine is a v2 with the aperture tab and a serial number in the mid v2 range, but takes 39mm filters and uses the #12504 hood that takes the 7 filters. Best of both worlds, I guess.

I'm not a fan of the round hood though. Is it possible to use the v4's rectangular hood on this lens? I don't have access to one to try it out before ordering so I'm hoping for a yea or nay here.

My v3 was retail-packaged with a 12504, and it should fit any 35 'cron and later Summarons. As for the v4 hood, it has a protruding tab (for orientation) that makes it unusable on earlier 'crons - without surgery anyway.
 
I've owned (since sold) both of these lenses at one point and much prefer the IV version. My current favorite 35mm lens is the Zeiss c-biogon 2.8, 'better' than either of them at the available apertures to my eye.
 
I have came across some asph 35 summicron in screw thread mount. anyone has anything to say about any "micro front/back focusing" when used with an L39-M adapter? it will be nice if I could use it on a IIIg or should I just go for the m-mount.? what are the pros and cons?
