who here shoots only rangefinders?...not a poll

I have just recently found RF's again. I shoot mostly DSLR's as they are the best tool for wildlife and sports. That being said, the RF's are superior for street shooting and when I want to go light.

I like rangefinder cams and use them a lot. I also like SLR's, TLR's, and digital and use whatever seems appropriate at the time. I like different kinds of food too -- wouldn't care to restrict myself when it comes to cuisine or cameras 🙂

For the most part I use rangefinder cameras but I do own a Minolta XD-11 and XE-7 that get used when the need arises..
I started my love of cameras with a Leica IIIa with Summar and have used rf cameras since.

I use only rangefinders for everyday shooting not counting the few times when I use my non RF (but close relative) cameras...a minox 35 and a Rodenstock Folder (oh..and my digi p&s for pictures of the equipment 😉 )....no SLR/TLR in my Arsenal. (thou I´d like to add an ARAX 6x6 sometime in the future as my SLR)

8-25 Rangefinders only,Fed2 d&e.My faithful Spotmatic F,is now in the hands of my son so he can learn photography. He has a Fed2d also that he likes to use.Makes him think,a good thing.

I'd be 100% rangefinder — I have an M6 and an M7 — except they use film and some stock agencies have a problem accepting images scanned from film — so I shoot a Sony A100 a lot for stock images.

My problem would be solved by getting a digital rangefinder, say, an M8.

Fat chance!

70 percent rangefinder, 60 percent medium format, 90 percent B+W, 50 percent tripod bound, 40 percent artificial lighting, 5 percent digital.
I also use a Mamiya TLR and Pentax K stuff.

I am selling my 35mm film equipment (Nikon FM3a and F6) I will be rangefinder only film 🙂 for digital I have D200 and alot of nikon lenses

...and so i ask... who here shoots with only rangefinder cameras?

In the past few years, I' used RF's only. A digital (R-D1) was added this year. The digicam was used by wife & kids only.

But now comes the BUT - or better said, the avowal 🙂 :
I have still kept a Nikon F-301 all the years, which stayed unused in a bag; and now I've found a very, very cheap f8/500mm tele in T2/Nikon mount at the flea market, recently. I bought it for one purpose only: will use it in the mountains; to shoot deers, capricorns, chamois, eagles, lammergeiers, and if I'm lucky, lynxes. Especially my kids are looking forward to that, because we've seen all those animals many times during our long alpine hikes. I know it'll take a lot of practise (and carry a lot including at least a monopod) to get pleasing results.

I hope the RFF fellows do forgive my bit on the side...

Didier

I shoot 100% rangefinder now, but for wild animals a srl is better (i don't shot animals often but I'll do it again soon using nikon F55+Nikkor 70/300 ... ehm ... bought before rf addiction)
