I agree about the inefficiency of video as a medium. These YouTube reviews and tutorials are a waste of time and I always try to avoid them, greatly preferring written material.
I never use video related features on my digital cameras. It's probably not a coincidence if I prefer film cameras or Sigma digital cameras with a Foveon sensor (they are 100% video free).

The word itself fills me with revulsion, as did its misbegotten predecessor "blog" when first I read it on John Brownlow's old Streetphoto board.
It was then early enough days that he had to explain what it meant, this new form of diary/essay for the World Wide Web; that it was quite the coming thing, and not just some forced portmanteau neologism meaning 'silicon valley outhouse' or 'projectile vomiting,'
The sound of 'vlog' evokes a drying swamp below a steppe where someday peasants will cut peat for their stoves.

Seriously though, I do absolutely deplore the constant trend towards making up new words (like vlog), all the more because I that what is a new word today and hence is trendy, will be an old word tomorrow and be boring and hence dumped for yet another new made up word.
I don't know that I really completely deplore the concept of vlogging however as occasionally one stumbles on something of interest. Occasionally! Though having said that I admit that most vlogs are inane and boring. (Especially ones posted by tossers with a baseball cap on backward who ALWAYS begin their vlog with "Hey whats up dudes?" Why do clowns who just want to be "hip" always begin this idiotic way. I always think: " You tell me idiot, that's why I am looking at your damn vlog and if you cant tell me I am out of here".)
And of course the other issue is that vlogs pander to the "Look at ME, ME,ME,ME,ME,ME,ME generation. I have a vlog with 10 subscribers.................. wow I am an international celebrity". (sigh!)
PS have a drink for me. I would appreciate it.

The new Fuji X-T4 has a switch on the top of the body for "still" or "movie". Depending on the choice, the menus become still-centric or movie-centric. This helps.

That's a good idea: the ability to create a personal menu (perhaps with tabs) selected from items in the main menu system. I think the Canon 5D Mk III has a great layout and good use of colors, but the ability to create a new menu - a personalized subset - would be ideal. I also wish there were some way to quickly identify which settings I've modified from their defaults.
